Job summary

PBA SYSTEMS PTE LTD in Singapore seeks a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to design precision motion stages, gantries and actuator modules using SolidWorks, translating specifications into manufacturable solutions.

You will work closely with senior engineers, support BOM management, and contribute to design reviews, tolerancing, and manufacturing drawings to ensure high-precision performance and reliability across global customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in precision mechanical design.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical design using SolidWorks.
  • Exposure to product design involving precision motion systems, stages, or actuators is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of precision stage, gantry, actuator, and motion system design fundamentals.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD modelling, detailed engineering drawings, and BOM management.
  • Good understanding of precision machining, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and assembly techniques.
  • Basic familiarity with motion control components such as servo drives, encoders, and actuators is an advantage.
  • Willingness to learn system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of precision motion equipment.
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and eager to learn, with the ability to work under guidance and grow toward greater independence.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop precision stages, gantries, actuator modules, and motion system components from conceptual design through detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain mechanical drawings, BOMs, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Release official BOMs and manufacturing drawings for costing, procurement, and production purposes.
  • Assess machining tolerances, material selection, and assembly requirements to ensure product performance and manufacturability.
  • Provide engineering support to Production, Manufacturing, and NPI teams for new and existing mechanical systems.
  • Support system testing, evaluation, and troubleshooting of precision motion stages, actuator modules, and assembly-level components.
  • Assist in integrating motors, encoders, servo drives, actuators, and sensors into precision motion system assemblies.
  • Support commissioning and functional verification of assembled motion systems prior to release.
  • Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Production, and Customers to resolve technical issues and support product improvement.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability, and engineering efficiency.

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of high-precision linear motion stages, gantries, and actuator modules for global customers. The successful candidate will apply strong mechanical design fundamentals and hands-on CAD experience to translate specifications into practical, manufacturable engineering solutions, working closely with senior engineers to build deeper precision motion expertise.

Job Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Development
  • Design and develop precision stages, gantries, actuator modules, and motion system components from conceptual design through detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain mechanical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Release official BOMs and manufacturing drawings for costing, procurement, and production purposes.
  • Assess machining tolerances, material selection, and assembly requirements to ensure product performance and manufacturability.
  • Provide engineering support to Production, Manufacturing, and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams for new and existing mechanical systems.
Testing & Technical Support
  • Support system testing, evaluation, and troubleshooting of precision motion stages, actuator modules, and assembly-level components.
  • Assist in integrating motors, encoders, servo drives, actuators, and sensors into precision motion system assemblies.
  • Support commissioning and functional verification of assembled motion systems prior to release.

People Requirements
