Job summary

MotionWell Automation Pte. Ltd. in Singapore seeks a mechanical design engineer with 4+ years of experience to lead design activities for custom automation systems, from concept to commissioning. You will create 3D models, drawings, and specifications, and collaborate with engineering, production, suppliers and customers.

The role requires hands-on expertise in machine development, strong problem-solving, and the ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical design activities for custom automation systems from concept to project completion.
• Design and develop mechanical parts, assemblies, mechanisms, fixtures, and automation equipment.
• Create and review 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using CAD software.
• Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis, and design verification for functionality and manufacturability.
• Prepare BOMs, production drawings, and technical documentation.
• Own assigned projects and monitor schedules, deliverables, and milestones.
• Coordinate with internal teams, production, suppliers, and customers through the lifecycle.
• Communicate with customers to capture requirements and provide project updates.
• Participate in design reviews and implement improvements.
• Support fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical design activities for custom automation systems and equipment from concept development to project completion

• Design and develop mechanical parts, assemblies, mechanisms, fixtures, and automation equipment

• Create and review 3D models, detailed engineering drawings, and design specifications using 3D CAD software

• Perform design calculations, component selection, tolerance analysis, and design verification to ensure functionality, reliability, and manufacturability

• Prepare and review BOMs, production drawings, and technical documentation

• Take ownership of assigned projects and monitor project schedules, technical deliverables, and milestones to ensure timely completion

• Coordinate closely with internal engineering teams, production, suppliers, and customers throughout the project lifecycle

• Communicate directly with customers to understand technical requirements, provide project updates, and resolve engineering issues

• Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to improve design quality and performance

• Support fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, and commissioning of automation equipment

• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective design improvements and corrective actions

• Ensure designs comply with project specifications, safety requirements, and engineering standards

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

• Minimum 4 years of relevant mechanical design experience, preferably in industrial automation, custom machinery, or equipment design

• Strong hands‑on experience in mechanical design and machine development

• Proficient in 3D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks for 3D modelling, assembly design, and engineering drawings

• Good knowledge of mechanical components, materials, manufacturing processes, tolerances, and engineering practices

• Proven experience in independently handling engineering projects from design through fabrication, assembly, installation, and commissioning

• Experience coordinating directly with customers, suppliers, and internal project teams

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills

• Good communication, coordination, and project management skills

• Able to work independently and take ownership of assigned projects
