Job summary

Industrial Component MFG. in Woodland Area is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop new bellows assemblies, lead NPI activities, and coordinate with customers and US counterparts.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical/ manufacturing engineering, strong CAD/FEA skills, and 4 years of relevant experience, including jig and fixture design. On-site, five-day work week, in Singapore.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • 4 years of experience in mechanical product design, including jig/fixture design.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; knowledge of FEA.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers and US counterparts on design and application of new bellow assemblies.
  • Analyze customer requirements, specs and data to assess feasibility, costs, tooling and equipment.
  • Design new products using 3D CAD and perform FEA analyses.
  • Develop manufacturing processes and shop floor routers for new products.
  • Review drawing accuracy before release for prototype and mass production.
  • Lead NPI activities and coordinate FAI builds to identify issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Create BOMs and routings for new part numbers in the ERP system.
  • Coordinate with vendors on fabrication and testing of prototypes and design changes.
  • Coordinate engineering changes with customers and internal teams; raise ECNs.
  • Participate in CIP and Kaizen to improve production processes.

Education

Job description

  • Collaborate with customers and US counterparts on the design and application of new bellow assemblies.
  • Analyze customer requirements, specifications and technical data to assess feasibility, costs, tooling and equipment requirements.
  • Design new products using 3D CAD and perform FEA analysis, including the design of jigs and fixtures where required.
  • Develop manufacturing processes and shop floor routers for new products.
  • Review and verify drawing accuracy before releasing designs for prototype development and mass production.
  • Lead NPI activities and coordinate FAI builds to identify potential issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Create BOMs and manufacturing routings for new part numbers in the ERP system.
  • Conduct product validation in accordance with design specifications and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with vendors on the fabrication and testing of functional prototypes, component modifications and design improvements.
  • Liaise with customers on engineering changes, raise ECNs and coordinate with internal teams for smooth implementation.
  • Participate in CIP and Kaizen initiatives to improve production processes.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives through design simplification, alternative materials and supplier evaluation.
  • Develop alternative designs and processes to assess feasibility, operating conditions, new applications and potential modifications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks 3D modelling and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge and experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Familiar with machining and stamping fabrication processes.
  • 4 years of experience in mechanical product design, with exposure to jig and fixture design.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is an advantage.
  • Welding experience in GTAW and PAW processes is preferred; Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)certification is an added advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Able to manage tasks effectively and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Good team player with strong collaboration skills.
