Job summary

Quest Global Digital PTE. LTD. seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop product parts, assemblies and design solutions that meet function, performance, reliability, safety, quality, cost and timing targets.

You will define design requirements with measurable targets, apply DFM and DFA principles, review 3D CAD models and drawings, and support testing from prototypes to validation, collaborating across cross-functional teams to drive robust, production-ready designs.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Product Development, Mechatronics, Science or an equivalent technical discipline.
• 2 to 4 years of experience in mechanical design, product development or a related engineering role.
• Experience designing plastic, rubber, metal or mechanical assembly components, with a good understanding of DFM and DFA principles.
• Practical knowledge of 3D CAD, 2D engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance stack-up and design documentation, with the ability to review and guide CAD and drawing outputs.
• Ability to apply established design processes and engineering best practice to deliver robust design solutions, with guidance where needed.
• Ability to understand technical requirements, identify constraints and translate them into practical design work.
• A methodical approach to problem solving, using prototypes, tests, data and analysis to make evidence-based design decisions.
• Comfort working in a dynamic product development environment where requirements may evolve, with the ability to plan, prioritise and adapt effectively.
• Ability to contribute effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical ideas, design rationale, risks and recommendations to colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Generate design concepts and evaluate them methodically against requirements to identify suitable solutions, trade-offs and risks.
• Apply design for manufacture and design for assembly principles to create practical, robust and production-ready designs.
• Create, review or manage 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, tolerance stacks and engineering documentation to support design development, review and release.
• Build and support functional prototypes, rigs and test samples for investigation, review, verification and demonstration.
• Define and support test requirements that reflect anticipated user behaviour, product use cases and failure modes.
• Analyse test results, design issues and failures to identify root causes and develop effective corrective actions.
• Monitor progress against agreed plans, prioritise work effectively and partner with stakeholders to communicate risks, challenges and dependencies early.
• Participate in design reviews, technical reviews and project discussions, sharing design rationale, evidence and recommendations in a clear and constructive way.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including senior engineers, technical leads, system owners, external development partners, quality, manufacturing, operations, procurement, suppliers and global engineering teams.
• Capture learning, design rationale and technical evidence to support future design decisions and continuous improvement.
