Job Summary
The Marketing and Operations Manager is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies while overseeing day-to-day operational activities of the wholesale trading business. This role ensures efficient sourcing, logistics, and sales support for agricultural products, while expanding market presence, strengthening customer relationships, and improving overall profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Business Development
- Develop and implement marketing and sales strategies for agricultural commodities.
- Identify new markets, customers, and distribution channels internationally.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, buyers, brokers, and logistics partners.
- Conduct market research on pricing trends, demand, competitor activity, and global trade dynamics.
- Prepare sales forecasts and budget.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with customers and suppliers.
- Represent the company at trade fairs, exhibitions, and industry events.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily trading operations, including procurement, sales order processing, and delivery coordination.
- Coordinate logistics, shipping, warehousing, and customs documentation for imports and exports.
- Ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure contract compliance.
- Work closely with finance on invoicing, payments, credit control, and cost management.
Supply Chain & Logistics
- Manage relationships with freight forwarders, transporters, and warehouse providers.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Handle risk management related to price volatility, supply disruptions, and logistics delays.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Prepare regular reports on sales performance, margins, operational efficiency, and market trends.
- Track KPIs related to sales growth, customer acquisition, inventory turnover, and operational costs.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and profitability.
Compliance & Quality Control
- Ensure compliance with company policies, trade regulations, and industry standards.
- Oversee quality control procedures for agricultural commodities.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in wholesale trading, commodity trading, or supply chain management.
- Strong knowledge of agricultural commodities and/or metals trading markets.
- Experience in import/export operations and international logistics.
- Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
