Job summary

Bloomberg Singapore Pte. Ltd. is seeking a Market Specialist in Commodities who will serve as a subject matter expert for the Sales teams.

You will consult with senior decision makers at client accounts, help close new opportunities, and provide feedback to shape product development. This role requires strong knowledge of commodities, experience with Bloomberg Terminal, and the ability to travel up to 50% across ASEAN markets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience in Financial Services or a Financial Technology company.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Commodities sales, trading or research.
• Experience leading senior level client or internal conversations in the past 5 years.
• Practical experience using the Bloomberg Terminal and/or applicable commodities software providers.
• The ability to convey complex ideas clearly to audiences of various sizes.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% across ASEAN markets.
• Bachelor’s degree or degree equivalent qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Utilise your market experience, detailed knowledge of industry trends, and demonstrated technical skills to drive revenue opportunities across Bloomberg solutions.
• Advise clients on their challenges and how Bloomberg products and technology can solve them.
• Develop an in-depth understanding of the competitor landscape and its impact on customers and internal teams.
• Influence Bloomberg product direction through thought leadership and by connecting clients with decision makers.
• Develop and manage your own roadmap of initiatives aligned with product, sales, and company goals, with regular check-ins and reporting.
• Participate in new projects that advance department and firm-wide goals.
• Mentor peers and contribute to training and product enhancements.

What's the role?

Market Specialists support our Sales teams serving as subject matter experts within Bloomberg. On any given day in this role, you will be consulting with senior decision makers at client accounts, helping to close new sales opportunities, and providing critical feedback to help shape the development of our tools and services with the product management teams. By championing the Bloomberg Professional Service at market events and through printed material, you become the face of our company!

The Market Specialists are comprised of a broad spectrum of individuals with varying backgrounds and skills with experience from across the industry. The team's core responsibility is not only to heighten our user base’s experience and impact sales revenue, but also play a vital role in improving the knowledge of our sales force, and are a dedicated source of client feedback for our product development teams. The team also highlight their market expertise through writing for a variety of publications or speaking at internal and external events.

We'll trust you to:

• Utilise your strong market experience, detailed knowledge of industry trends, and demonstrated technical skills to drive revenue opportunities across our suite of solutions
• Act in an advisory capacity to our clients around the challenges that they face, and how they can use our products and technology to solve them
• Develop an in depth understanding of the competitor landscape and how this affects both internal and external customers
• Influence the direction of Bloomberg products through thought leadership, contribution on innovative ideas, and establishing relationships between Bloomberg's decisions makers and our clients
• Develop and establish your own road-map of initiatives based off your in depth understanding of markets, tools, and workflows that align with product, sales, and company goals, and then maintain check-in points, and self-report successes and challenges on these strategies
• Participate actively in new projects that drive departmental and firm-wide initiatives and goals
• Seek out additional ways to make an impact, such as mentoring, involvement in training, running campaigns, and active involvement in product enhancement

You’ll need to have:

• Minimum 7 years of experience in Financial Services or a Financial Technology company
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Commodities sales, trading or research
• Experience leading senior level client or internal conversations gained within the past 5 years
• Practical experience using the Bloomberg Terminal and/or applicable commodities software providers
• The ability to convey complex ideas and solutions in a simple and concise way to audiences both large and small
• The business insight required to use your knowledge and experience to make good judgement and quick decisions to tangibly impact the commercial success of our business
• A commercial approach, along with the ability to operate within both departmental and company-wide initiatives, in a non-hierarchical structure without corporate titles
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time across ASEAN markets
• Fluency in both written and spoken English, with excellent presentation, training, and communication skills
• Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organisation
• Bachelor’s degree or degree equivalent qualifications

We'd love to see:

• Knowledge of the oil, refined products or LNG markets and trading
• Demonstrated experience or interest in more than one commodities asset class
• Direct involvement in the development of an internal or external IT solution or software product
