FASTSTREAM RECRUITMENT PTE LTD in Singapore is seeking a Market Risk Analyst to monitor trading exposures, analyse market movements and provide timely reporting to support risk management.

The role requires 3–7 years in market risk, familiarity with derivatives, and strong Excel/Python skills to collaborate with traders in a fast-paced trading environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related discipline.
• 3–7 years of market risk experience.
• Experience in commodity trading or energy markets is a plus.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with data interpretation.
• Proficient Excel; VBA or Python a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review daily trading positions and P&L movements for risk exposures.
• Analyse commodity price movements and impact on portfolios.
• Produce risk reports on market exposures and risk indicators.
• Monitor risk limits and escalate deviations to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with traders to discuss exposures and analyses.
• Track commodity market developments impacting trading positions.
• Support scenario analysis, stress testing and sensitivity assessments.
• Review hedging activities to monitor portfolio exposures.
• Reconcile risk figures across internal systems and ensure data accuracy.
• Contribute to reporting process improvements and tools.
• Support management reporting to enable informed decisions.
• Undertake ad-hoc risk projects as required.

Are you an analytical professional with experience in market risk and an interest in commodity markets? If you enjoy working with market data, monitoring trading exposures and providing insights to support business decisions, this could be an opportunity worth exploring.

Our client is an established commodity trading company in Singapore seeking a Market Risk Analyst to join its team. This role offers exposure to risk monitoring across trading activities, with a focus on analysing market movements, assessing trading exposures and providing timely reporting to support effective risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review daily trading positions and profit and loss movements, identifying significant changes and potential risk exposures.
• Analyse commodity price movements and assess their impact on trading portfolios and financial performance.
• Produce regular risk reports covering market exposures, trading positions and key risk indicators for internal review.
• Monitor risk limits and elevate material deviations or potential breaches to the relevant stakeholders.
• Work alongside traders to understand portfolio movements, discuss exposure changes and provide risk-related analysis.
• Track developments in commodity markets and identify trends that may affect the company's trading positions.
• Assist with scenario analysis, stress testing and sensitivity assessments to evaluate potential market risks.
• Review hedging activities and derivatives positions to support the monitoring of portfolio exposures.
• Reconcile risk figures and trading data across internal systems, investigating discrepancies and maintaining data accuracy.
• Contribute to improvements in risk reporting processes, analytical tools and internal monitoring procedures.
• Support management reporting and provide analysis to facilitate informed trading and risk management decisions.
• Undertake ad-hoc analysis and other risk-related projects as required.

Requirements:

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics or a related discipline.
• 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in market risk, risk analysis or a similar role.
• Experience in commodity trading, energy, oil and gas or other trading-related environments would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of market risk concepts, including trading positions, P&L analysis, exposure monitoring and risk limits.
• Familiarity with derivatives and hedging instruments, such as futures, swaps or options, would be beneficial.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret market data and identify key risk drivers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with knowledge of VBA, Python or other data analysis and automation tools considered an advantage.
• Meticulous, organised and committed to maintaining accurate data and high-quality reporting.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with traders and other internal stakeholders.
• Proactive and commercially minded, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced trading environment.
