Job summary

DIRECT SEARCH ASIA PTE. LTD. is seeking a dedicated Market Analyst to analyze dry bulk shipping markets, track freight trends, and deliver timely insights for commercial and trading decisions.

You will monitor vessel supply and demand, freight rates, and commodity flows, developing tools and reports to support management and trading desks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• University degree in Economics, Finance, Maritime Studies, Shipping or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in dry bulk shipping, maritime research, chartering, brokerage, or market analysis.
• Strong understanding of dry bulk shipping markets and commodity trade flows.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Excel and data analysis; experience with shipping databases/tools is an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and deliver timely analysis in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor dry bulk freight markets, vessel supply and demand, trade flows, and market developments.
• Analyze freight rates, vessel earnings, commodity flows, and key market indicators across major dry bulk segments.
• Track global developments affecting dry bulk commodities, including iron ore, coal, grain, and minor bulks.
• Prepare daily/weekly market reports, forecasts, and analysis for management and commercial teams.
• Develop and maintain market databases, models, and analytical tools.
• Provide market intelligence and insights to support chartering, trading, and investment decisions.
• Monitor competitor activity, fleet developments, port congestion, and other factors affecting freight markets.
• Liaise with brokers, shipowners, traders, and other market participants to gather market intelligence.
