Job summary

MODERN AUTOMATION AND ENGINEERING PTE LTD in Singapore seeks a skilled Marine Electrical/Automation Technician to inspect, troubleshoot, service and repair marine systems onboard vessels. The role requires reading electrical/mechanical drawings, performing calibration, and delivering detailed service reports.

You will provide onsite and remote support, and may be deployed overseas with short notice, including flights for vessel attendance.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma in Electrical or Marine Engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
• Able to work irregular hours, weekends or public holidays when required for vessel attendance.
• Class 3 driving license will be an advantage.
• Responsible and willing to learn.
• Comfortable working onboard vessels, at shipyards, anchorages and marine environments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out onboard inspection, troubleshooting, servicing, maintenance and repair of marine electrical, automation and mechanical systems/equipment.
• Diagnose equipment faults and perform necessary corrective actions and repairs.
• Perform testing, calibration and commissioning of marine equipment and control systems.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, technical manuals and mechanical drawings for troubleshooting and servicing works.
• Prepare clear and detailed service/technical reports, including findings, repairs carried out, spare parts recommendations and follow-up service requirements.
• Provide onsite and remote technical support to vessels and customers when required.
• Attend overseas service assignments and travel by air at short notice when required for vessel attendance.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant safety standards.
• Apply good engineering practices and practical troubleshooting methods to improve service efficiency and minimise vessel downtime.
• Take initiative to seek opportunities for improvements and implement corrective actions.
• Adhoc tasks by supervisors.
