Job summary

CMA CGM Singapore seeks a skilled SSE Expert to ensure IMS compliance across our vessel fleet and to monitor continuous performance improvements. You will report periodically on results and coordinate with ship and shore teams to maintain QHSSE standards.

You will lead and participate in audits (ISM, ISO, ISPS, MLC, flag audits), train staff, and travel regularly for ship visits. The role requires independence, teamwork, and strong knowledge of maritime safety and ethics policies.

Qualifications

• Experience as Captain or Chief Officer on merchant ships.
• Trained in ISM and ISO internal audits, CSO and accident investigations.
• Knowledge of QHSE management principles.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to travel aboard ships for visits/inspections.

Responsibilities

Job description

Role Overview

Reporting to the DPA, as the SSE Expert, you will be responsible in ensuring that your assigned fleet of vessels are in compliance with IMS and all relevant international rules and regulations. In addition, you will be performing your duties in accordance with our company's quality, health, safety, environmental and ethics policies. You will be monitoring vessels' continuous performance improvement plan, ensuring timely periodical reports are submitted.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with IMS and all relevant international rules and regulations
• Ensure all your duties in accordance with quality, health, safety, environmental and ethics policies
• Propose a continuous performance improvement plan which will be reported and reviewed on a periodical basis
• Assist in QHSSE responsibilities for his assigned vessels
• Perform on duty tasks when assigned
• Implementation of the Integrated Management System and the Ship Security Plan
• Establish strong communication between ashore departments and the vessels
• Ensure assigned vessels are properly manned, maintained, equipped and in a seaworthy condition.
• Management and follow-up of ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO, and flag audits
• QSSE audit or inquiry onboard assigned and designated vessel
• Monitoring of corrective and preventive actions
• Perform trainings of shore department and ship staff
• Participate in the regulations monitoring
• Be the contact point of the flag administrations and support Fleet department with the classification societies (RO)
• Participate in the Emergency Response Team when concerned

What We're Looking For:

• Sailing experience as Captains (or minimally as an experienced Chief Officer) on-board merchant ships, preferably container vessels is a huge plus
• Trained in ISM and ISO Internal audits, CSO and accident investigations
• Knowledge in QHSE management
• Ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment
• Physical ability to perform audit onboard ships
• Able to travel aboard for ships visits / inspections regularly
