Job summary

Song Consulting Pte Ltd is seeking a marine instrumentation technician to calibrate and test onboard equipment, including ODME, OWS, gas detection systems and UTI tools. You will perform measurements, troubleshooting and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with marine standards.

Responsibilities include fuel and cargo gauging checks, calibration of gauges, ensuring safety procedures, and producing inspection reports for vessel operations.

Qualifications

• Experience calibrating marine measurement systems and safety-critical equipment.
• Ability to perform functional testing and fault finding on onboard instrumentation.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and marine industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate and conduct functional testing of Oil Discharge Monitoring Equipment (ODME) to verify accurate measurement and compliant operation.
• Perform calibration and functional testing of Oily Water Separator (OWS) systems to ensure correct operation and environmental compliance.
• Test, calibrate and troubleshoot Fixed Gas Detection and Gas Sampling Systems to ensure reliable onboard gas monitoring.
• Calibrate portable and multi-gas detectors, including O2 analysers, to ensure accurate detection and measurement of oxygen and hazardous gases.
• Calibrate and verify pressure and temperature gauges, transmitters and related instrumentation used in vessel operations.
• Operate and calibrate temperature and pressure calibrators and other test equipment used for verification of vessel instrumentation.
• Conduct and support Ultrasonic Thickness Inspection (UTI), including the use and verification/calibration of UTI equipment and UTI tapes, to assess vessel and tank structural condition.
• Perform tank gauging and associated measurement checks to verify accurate cargo and tank-level readings.
• Carry out functional testing, calibration, fault finding and basic troubleshooting of other marine instrumentation, measurement and control equipment as required.
• Provide automation and instrumentation services onboard vessels to support operational efficiency, equipment reliability and safety.
• Maintain accurate calibration and service records and prepare relevant test reports and certificates upon completion of work.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable safety procedures, manufacturer requirements and relevant marine/industry standards.
