Job summary

EDMUND OPTICS SINGAPORE PTE. LTD. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive development and continuous improvement of precision optics manufacturing processes, ensuring safe, efficient, and scalable production while meeting targets for quality and safety.

The role requires hands-on process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, collaboration with QA and production teams, and mentoring technicians while specifying new equipment and tooling to support operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Optics, Physics, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of process engineering experience in manufacturing, preferably with precision optics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes from concept to production.

We are seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to drive the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for precision optics. This role is focused on delivering stable, efficient, and scalable production while ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards. Achieving production targets and supporting operational excellence will be the primary objectives.

Job Description:

• Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes from concept to production.
• Collaborate with QA and production teams to ensure quality and resolve customer issues.
• Support quotations team with technical assessments and cost estimates.
• Lead First Article (FA) projects, including tooling design and process troubleshooting.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using DFMEA/PFMEA and lean practices.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to technicians.
• Specify and evaluate new equipment, tooling, and fixtures.

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Optics, Physics, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a process engineering role within a manufacturing environment, ideally involving precision optics.

Skills & Abilities Required:

• Working knowledge of ISO standards, SAP systems, and Lean/Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency in interpreting optical and mechanical drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing(GD&T).
• Strong mathematical aptitude; comfortable working in both imperial and metric systems.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Skilled in statistical tools for process capability analysis, DoE, and ANOVA testing.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in adynamic manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Capable of effectively engaging with cross-functional departments and external vendors.
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude and capable of operating in a fast-paced environment.
