Job summary

HTX in Singapore seeks a driven media relations manager to shape HTX's external narrative and raise visibility for its science and technology work, energising public safety outcomes.

You will plan outreach for events, manage interviews, draft press releases and talking points, monitor coverage, and build lasting relationships with local and international media as part of the Content & Media team in Strategic Communications.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of relevant work experience in media relations or communications.
• Tertiary qualifications from a recognised tertiary education institution.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Strong understanding of today’s media landscape across traditional and digital platforms.
• Experience in journalism or media relations is a plus.
• Agile and cross-functional thinker with ability to adapt messaging for audiences.
• Two-year contract to start, with potential for permanent tenure based on performance.

What The Role Is

We are looking for a talented media relations manager to develop HTX's media relations across not only mainstream media publishers, but also social media and other digital platforms.

You would be part of the Content & Media team within HTX's Strategic Communications division, which supports both internal and external comms, as well as branding and marketing.

You would report to the Head, Media, to execute HTX's media strategy in order to spotlight and amplify the work we do in science and technology to exponentially impact Singapore's safety and security.

What You Will Be Working On

• Help to conceptualise - and focus on executing – HTX's media engagement strategy aligned with the communications goals of the agency
• Plan and execute media relations outreach for special events, programmes and major initiatives, including arranging and managing interviews
• Develop engaging story ideas and propose ideas proactively for media pitches to generate media coverage
• Compose and edit press releases, pitches, corporate literature, and articles targeted at external audiences
• Draft talking points, media statements and speeches
• Track, monitor and evaluate media coverage, media relations processes and approvals
• Foster strong relationships with local and international media contacts to promote the agency

What We Are Looking For

• Preferably with at least 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience
• Tertiary qualifications from a recognised tertiary education institution
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Strong understanding of today's media landscape, ranging from traditional publishers and broadcasters to digital-only platforms and social media
• Prior experience in journalism, communications or media relations would be a plus
• Agile and cross-functional thinker with a keen eye for visual design and copywriting, and the ability to code switch depending on the task and target audience
• All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
