Job summary

Tech Data APAC is seeking an experienced Export Compliance Lead to manage day-to-day export activities across the Asia Pacific and Japan region. The role focuses on implementing a robust trade compliance program, delivering training, and ensuring recordkeeping across multiple countries.

You will coordinate with Sales, Logistics, and Regulatory bodies to address escalations and maintain compliance. The ideal candidate has 8–10 years of export compliance experience, a degree in Export Controls or

• 8–10 years of export compliance experience.
• 3–5 years of people management experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Export Controls or related field.
• Economics/Business Management degree also considered.
• Strong communication and data-entry skills.
• Able to work with cross-cultural teams.
• Proficient in English communication.
• Ability to quickly learn new systems.
• Advanced computer applications proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day export control activities across Sales, Operations, Customs brokers, Logistics and other stakeholders (25%).
• Deliver training on export compliance topics to stakeholders (10%).
• Implement export compliance program across multiple countries (20%).
• Respond to government queries related to export control matters (5%).
• Lead staff or vendors performing transactional export controls (10%).
• Conduct self-assessments to identify risk and implement corrective actions (15%).
• Lead integration of automated trade tools in APJ ERPs (SAP & JDE) (15%).

Job Purpose

Manages the day-to-day business and escalations relative to export activities of the company in the Asia Pacific and Japan region. Implement the trade compliance program in the various countries in the APJ region. Delivers training on various trade compliance topics such as US reexport license requirements, Product Classification, Customs Valuation, Country of Origin, Export Controls for US and APJ, Other Government Regulatory requirements and other topics. Ensure recordkeeping standards for export are maintained by all countries in the region. Conduct compliance assessments/ audits of export operations in various countries. Determine compliance with in-country rules and regulations. Provides technical and management support during government conducted audits. Provide advice to the business on export requirements of various countries in the region. Address escalations made by regulatory authorities relative to exports of the company. Manage the daily activities of regulatory staff reporting directly to them.

• Delivers training on export compliance/export licensing topics to all relevant stakeholders. (10%)
• Implement the export compliance program of the company in various countries. (20%)
• Respond to government queries relative to export control matters. (5%)
• Manage staff or third-party vendor's team who carries out the transactional export control activities. (10%)
• Conduct self-assessments on export control operations to determine risk areas and implement corrective actions. (15%)
• Lead the integration of the automated trade automation tool in the APJ ERPs (SAP & JDE) system. (15%)

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

• 8 to 10 Years of relevant export compliance work experience.
• 3 to 5 Years of experience directly managing / supervising employees.
• Bachelor's Degree with Export Controls field of study required.
• Other Education / Certifications: Economics/Business Management Degree
• Able to execute instructions and to request clarification when needed.
