Job summary

P-CON MANAGEMENT PTE. LTD. Singapore seeks a senior mechanical design specialist/lead to independently apply advanced engineering techniques for complex wastewater and water treatment projects.

You will lead the mechanical design of process systems, assess sizing and performance, and ensure design intent across all project stages. Qualifications

• PE registration with Singapore Professional Engineers Board is preferred.
• University degree in mechanical engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience in mechanical design for municipal and industrial wastewater.
• Ability to work independently to deliver project deliverables on time.
• Experience leading engineering teams and performing QA/QC on designs.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical process systems for water and wastewater plants across all design stages.
• Design pumping systems for water, wastewater and sludge treatment.
• Develop ancillary systems (chemical feed, ventilation, drainage) from concept to detail.
• Prepare General Arrangement and equipment layout drawings.
• Develop equipment and pump specifications aligned with project needs.
• Perform sizing calculations to ensure efficiency and compliance.
• Review vendor submissions for compliance with specs and standards.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, building services and I&C.
• Lead meetings with clients, contractors and vendors to drive progress.
• Support bids and proposals and provide construction phase engineering support.

Job Summary

Functions as a senior technical specialist or lead in mechanical design, independently applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses to solve complex problems and develop methods.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical process systems for water and wastewater treatment plants at concept, functional, preliminary, and detailed stages, including screening, physical-chemical, biological, blower, odour control, disinfection, and sludge treatment plants
• Design various pumping systems for water, wastewater, and sludge treatment plants across all design phases
• Design ancillary systems such as chemical feed, mechanical ventilation, and drainage systems from concept to detailed design
• Prepare General Arrangement and equipment layout drawings to support project requirements
• Develop mechanical process equipment and pump specifications aligned with project needs
• Perform mechanical equipment and pipe sizing and calculations to ensure system efficiency and compliance
• Review and evaluate vendor submissions to verify compliance with specifications and project standards
• Coordinate mechanical design activities with civil, structural, electrical, building services, and instrumentation & control disciplines to ensure integrated solutions
• Lead meetings and discussions with clients, contractors, and vendors to drive project progress and resolve issues
• Provide engineering support for bids and proposals to secure new projects
• Deliver engineering support during construction, testing, and commissioning phases to ensure design intent is met
• Prepare project cost estimates for clients to support budgeting and decision-making
• Manage design and project execution where mechanical/process scope is primary, ensuring timely and quality deliverables

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) registration with the Professional Engineers Board Singapore is preferred
• University degree in mechanical engineering
• Minimum 10-15 years of experience in mechanical design for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment
• Ability to work independently to produce project deliverables within timelines
• Experience leading and guiding engineering teams and performing QA/QC on designs
• Proficient written and oral communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities
