Job summary

Ministry of Defence of Singapore is seeking a data-driven professional to support National Service administration, policy-making, and sense-making by developing data strategies and capabilities within the NS domain to inform policy reviews.

You will collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams, translate NS data into actionable insights, design datasets and pipelines, and build dashboards and AI models to support evidence-based decision making.

Qualifications

• Education in statistics, data science, CS, math, economics, engineering or related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in public policy-making, HR administration, data analytics or data management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

What You Will Be Working On

• Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to understand requirements
• Translate NS-related data into meaningful, actionable insights
• Communicate data requirements, define datasets and data pipelines required for data projects, and validate data quality
• Perform analysis to inform policy-making and support strategic decision-making

• Drive change management by educating stakeholders on new data tools and processes

Challenge(s)

• Navigating large volume of datasets that reside across various systems and aspects of NS, each with their own idiosyncrasies
• Developing a strong understanding of MINDEF/SAF's organisational structure, operations, policies and processes, particularly in the NS domain
• Maintaining a broad strategic perspective on NS policies while drilling down into key data details

What We Are Looking For

• Education in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field is preferred
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in public policy-making, Human Resource administration, data analytics, or data management is preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
