Job summary

MINDEF is seeking a Camp Operations Leader to oversee building and infrastructure management and cookhouse services across an offshore camp complex. You will lead the Camp Operations Platoon, ensure timely feeding operations, and manage contractor performance.

The role involves daily ferry travel and maintaining regulatory compliance. Education in facilities management or related fields, plus 3+ years in management with contractor experience, will support your success in delivering high service

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level education in Finance, Business, Operations, Facilities Management, Supply Chain or Estate Management.
• 3+ years in management or team supervision, plus experience with contractors and suppliers preferred.
• Experience in institutional estate management, maintenance or catering is an advantage.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee camp operations, ensuring cost-effective BI management and food service delivery.
• Maintain readiness of facilities and equipment across the camp complex.
• Manage BI maintenance budget and develop cost-efficient solutions.

Job description

What the role is:

You develop plans and solutions for cost-effective Building and Infrastructure (BI) management and Cookhouse operations, as well as lead the assigned Camp Operations Platoon (CoP) in ensuring effective delivery of camp services across the assigned camp complex.

What you will be working on:

• Oversee feeding operations, ensuring effective, timely delivery and in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
• Maintain 100% readiness of critical operations facilities in the assigned camp complex
• Ensure high readiness of facilities and associated equipment
• Allocate and manage the BI maintenance budget for the assigned camp complex
• Develop cost-effective maintenance solutions
• Spearhead efforts to maintain operational standards and service excellence
• Manage the administration and welfare of all personnel in the team
• Liaise with other external stakeholders on camp complex-related matters
• Challenge(s)- Managing real-time camp service operations across both infrastructure maintenance and cookhouse functions, requiring quick thinking and decisive problem-solving while sustaining high service standards
• Maintaining stringent and regular enforcement of contractor performance and ensuring strict compliance with regulations and finance procedures on a daily basis
• Travelling daily by ferry is required, as the workplace is located on an offshore island

What we are looking for:

• Education in Finance, Business, Operations, Facilities Management, Supply Chain, or Estate Management
• At least 3 years of experience in management or team supervision, and in working with contractors and suppliers is preferred
• Expertise in institutional estate management, maintenance, or catering is advantageous
• Forward-looking, customer-centric, with a positive attitude
• Possess good leadership and interpersonal communication skills
• Adequate Information Technology (IT) knowledge
• Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office applications
