As Mechanical Engineer in Building Systems (Mechanical),you will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and innovation of Changi Airport’s mechanical systems. You will lead maintenance improvement efforts, manage system enhancement and end‑of‑life replacement projects, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to optimize engineering operations.
Beyond traditional mechanical engineering responsibilities, you will champion the use ofAI-driven solutions, data analytics, and automation technologiesto elevate system resilience, predictive capabilities, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical Systems Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance, performance, and reliability of key mechanical systems, including air‑conditioning units, chiller plants, smoke control systems, sprinklers, gas flooding systems, water monitors, lifts, escalators, travellators, and pneumatic waste conveyance systems.
- Develop strategies to reduce downtime, improve system lifecycle, and optimize energy efficiency.
2. Digitalization, AI & Predictive Technologies
- Conduct studies and implementpredictive maintenance regimesusing sensor data, AI/ML models, and advanced data analytics.
- Leverage IoT platforms, digital twins, and automation tools to enhance system monitoring and decision‑making.
- Evaluate new technology solutions in collaboration with local academia, startups, and solution providers.
3. Project & Stakeholder Management
- Lead engineering projects, end‑of‑life replacements, and system upgrades to maintain high standards of system reliability and passenger experience.
- Work with cross-functional teams to streamline work processes, propose engineering improvements, and drive innovative solutions.
4. Compliance, Quality & Safety
- Ensure all mechanical systems meet regulatory requirements, quality benchmarks, and health & safety standards.
- Support and coordinate audits (ISO, internal and regulator imposed) for systems under your charge.
5. Innovation & Capability Development
- Support M&E teams in developing digitalization roadmaps, forging partnerships, and piloting new technologies.
- Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual work, enhance reporting accuracy, and improve operational agility.
6. Administrative & Technical Support
- Manage procurement processes, budgeting, and reporting for mechanical systems.
- Provide engineering support for tenancy‑related works involving complex M&E requirements.
- Interpret technical drawings and engineering documents to support design and implementation.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineeringor related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Air-conditioning & Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV), Mechanical, Plumbing and Sanitary or Fire Protections systems and/or project management. Candidates with no experience are welcome to apply.
- Strong understanding ofM&E maintenance practices, energy efficiency standards, and system reliability concepts.
- Analytical mindsetwith strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in afast-paced, dynamic environmentwith a strong drive for excellence.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and engineering schematics.
- Knowledge of IT networks, data analytics, coding (e.g., Python), or Power BIis an advantage, especially for automation and digital transformation initiatives.
