Job summary

MOL ENERGIA PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks an experienced LNG/LPG chartering professional to negotiate rates and terms for VLGC vessels, monitor market conditions, and report weekly to HQ. You will compute earnings, manage claims settlements, and source opportunities including long-term contracts and COAs.

The role involves budgeting, performance analysis, and providing timely documentation while coordinating with multi-cultural teams and Japanese clients across locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3–5 years' relevant experience.
• Proficiency in English and Japanese for report preparation and client communication.
• Willing to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate rates and terms of charter parties with customers to maximize profit and vessel utilization.
• Monitor market and provide weekly reports to team leader and Tokyo HQ.
• Compute earnings (estimate and actual) and input data into the database promptly.
• Negotiate with customers to expedite settlement of demurrages, deviations, and insurance costs.
• Develop customer relationships and source business opportunities including long-term charters and COAs.
• Gather industry news for commercial planning and advise the team.
• Supervise operations staff to ensure smooth and safe LPG vessel operations.
• Prepare budgets and analyze monthly performance versus budget.
• Handle documentation related to VLGC business, including vessel position lists and approvals.

Job description

Job Responsibilities:

• To negotiate with customers (through brokers or direct) on the rates & terms of Charter Parties to maximize the profit & utilization of VLGC vessels.
• To closely monitor market and to give reports to team leader and/or Tokyo HQ at least weekly.
• To compute earnings (estimate & actual) and input such data into the Company's data base in timely manners.
• To negotiate with customers if necessary to expedite settlement of claims(demurrages, deviation cost, insurance premiums, etc) to help operation PIC.
• To promote good business relationship with the customers and brokers and to continuously source for business opportunities that will optimize the profitability of the fleet including long term contracts like time-charter and/or COAs.
• To collect the industry-related news and information and report to team leader or Tokyo HQ to support their commercial planning.
• To supervise operation staffs and give proper instructions for the smooth and safe operation of the LPG vessels.
• Making budget and analysing actual result of VLGC business together with the colleagues.
• Necessary documentation works related to any VLGC business such as making vessels' position list in long view, letter to get approval of fixed business from the Management and so on.
• Be able to prepare annual operating budgets and provide analysis and commentary of monthly financial performance versus budget.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must have good working knowledge of MSOffice especially in EXCEL and capable of learning quickly our inhouse systems and parent company's reporting systems.
• Experience in shipping, ship management or tanker industry (especially LPG tanker business).
• Excellent inter-personal skills and isa team player who is comfortable and capable of working in a multi-cultural office environment.
• Minimum qualification of a Bachelor's Degree with at least 3-5 years' relevant experience.
• Proficiency in English and Japanese as preparation of reports in Japanese is needed for HQ in Japan and as well as to communicate effectively with Japanese clients and related parties.
• Must be willing to travel.
