Job summary

mol energia pte. ltd. in Singapore seeks a chartering professional to negotiate VLGC charter parties, monitor markets and prepare budget analyses. You will compute earnings, maintain data accuracy, and foster strong relations with customers and brokers while supporting HQ in Japan.

The role requires English and Japanese proficiency, willingness to travel, and experience in shipping or tanker operations with a degree in a relevant field.

Qualifications

• Good working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience in shipping, ship management or tanker industry (LPG preferred).
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player in a multi-cultural office environment.
• Bachelor’s Degree with 3–5 years’ relevant experience.
• Proficiency in English and Japanese for HQ in Japan and to communicate with Japanese clients and related parties.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate charter rates and terms to maximize profit and vessel utilization.
• Monitor market and report weekly to team leader and Tokyo HQ.
• Compute earnings (estimate & actual) and input data into the company database.
• Negotiate to expedite settlement of demurrages, deviation costs, and insurance premiums.
• Develop relationships with customers and brokers; source long-term contracts like time-charter and COAs.
• Collect industry news to support commercial planning.
• Supervise operation staff for safe LPG vessel operations.
• Prepare annual operating budgets and analyze monthly performance versus budget.
• Handle documentation related to VLGC business (position lists, approvals).
• Be able to prepare annual budgets and provide analysis and commentary of monthly financial performance versus budget.

Job Responsibilities

• To negotiate with customers (through brokers or direct) on the rates & terms of Charter Parties to maximize the profit & utilization of VLGC vessels.
• To closely monitor market and to give reports to team leader and/or Tokyo HQ at least weekly.
• To compute earnings (estimate & actual) and input such data into the Company’s data base in timely manners.
• To negotiate with customers if necessary to expedite settlement of claims(demurrages, deviation cost, insurance premiums, etc) to help operation PIC.
• To promote good business relationship with the customers and brokers and to continuously source for business opportunities that will optimize the profitability of the fleet including long term contracts like time-charter and/or COAs.
• To collect the industry-related news and information and report to team leader or Tokyo HQ to support their commercial planning.
• To supervise operation staffs and give proper instructions for the smooth and safe operation of the LPG vessels.
• Making budget and analysing actual result of VLGC business together with the colleagues.
• Necessary documentation works related to any VLGC business such as making vessels’ position list in long view, letter to get approval of fixed business from the Management and so on.
• Be able to prepare annual operating budgets and provide analysis and commentary of monthly financial performance versus budget.

Minimum Requirements

• Must have good working knowledge of MSOffice especially in EXCEL and capable of learning quickly our inhouse systems and parent company’s reporting systems.
• Experience in shipping, ship management or tanker industry (especially LPG tanker business).
• Excellent inter-personal skills and isa team player who is comfortable and capable of working in a multi-cultural office environment.
• Minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3-5 years’ relevant experience.
• Proficiency in English and Japanese as preparation of reports in Japanese is needed for HQ in Japan and as well as to communicate effectively with Japanese clients and related parties.
