Job summary

BD is seeking an experienced Maintenance Leader to head maintenance operations for our automated assembly and packaging equipment at the Tuas Plant in Singapore. You will drive reliability, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while leading a team of technicians.

This role collaborates with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Validation to ensure uptime, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience in a high-volume production environment.
• Minimum 7 years of maintenance/equipment engineering experience, preferably supporting automated assembly and packaging equipment.
• Proven experience leading maintenance teams, technicians, or technical resources within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, reliability engineering, and root cause analysis methodologies.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting automated equipment involving PLCs, sensors, servo systems, robotics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.

• Lead maintenance activities for automated assembly and packaging equipment to maximize reliability.
• Develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Drive equipment improvements and automation initiatives to boost productivity.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for failures.
• Oversee repair, overhaul, and restoration to recover production quickly.
• Manage maintenance projects, budgets, and scope.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Validation teams.
• Monitor uptime, OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and maintenance compliance.
• Ensure safety, quality, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
• Coach and develop maintenance technicians.
• Support spare parts planning and resource allocation.
• Identify continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve capability.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Leader to lead maintenance operations for our automated assembly and packaging manufacturing equipment. This role is responsible for driving equipment reliability, preventive maintenance excellence, technical troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives while leading a team of technicians to support business and production objectives.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in maximizing equipment uptime, improving manufacturing performance, and ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance activities for automated assembly and packaging equipment to achieve high levels of reliability, availability, and performance.

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment effectiveness.

• Drive equipment improvement and automation enhancement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.

• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for equipment failures and recurring technical issues.

• Oversee machine repair, overhaul, and restoration activities to ensure timely recovery of production operations.

• Manage maintenance projects and equipment modification initiatives, ensuring delivery within scope, timeline, and budget.

• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Validation, and other cross-functional teams to support production requirements and business priorities.

• Monitor and drive key equipment performance indicators, including uptime, OEE, MTBF, MTTR, maintenance compliance, and waste reduction.

• Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety, quality, GMP, and regulatory requirements.

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians, fostering strong technical capability and continuous learning.

• Support spare parts management, maintenance planning, and resource allocation to ensure operational readiness.

• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance, reduce operating costs, and improve manufacturing capability.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience in a high-volume production environment.

• Minimum 7 years of relevant maintenance, equipment engineering, or technical operations experience , preferably supporting automated assembly and packaging equipment.

• Proven experience leading maintenance teams, technicians, or technical resources within a manufacturing environment.

• Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, reliability engineering, and root cause analysis methodologies.

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting automated equipment involving PLCs, sensors, servo systems, robotics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.

• Experience managing equipment improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, electronics, precision manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, or CI methodologies.

• Experience with CMMS or computerized maintenance management systems.

• Supervisory or people leadership experience in a maintenance environment.

• Familiarity with validation and compliance requirements within regulated manufacturing environments.
