Job summary

JEP Precision Engineering Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a skilled Machinist to operate CNC lathes, milling machines and grinders to meet drawing specifications. You will perform part setup, run programs, inspect parts with micrometers and calipers, and ensure production quality.

Candidates with ITE/Nitec in Precision Engineering or 1 year of hands-on experience are welcome. Training is provided, and rotating shifts may apply; familiarity with Fanuc, Mazatrol or Heidenhain is a plus.

Qualifications

• ITE/Nitec in Precision Engineering or 1 year machining experience.
• Training will be provided for new hires.
• Able to work on rotating shifts.
• Knowledge of Fanuc, Mazatrol and Heidenhain is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform part machining to drawing requirements on CNC lathes, milling or grinding machines.
• Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, height gauges and calipers.
• Set up machines: fixture alignment, tool prep, program retrieval, production qualification.
• Monitor Machining parameters and suggest cycle time reductions.
• Identify and report abnormalities in machine behavior to supervisor.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and keep workplace clean and safe.

Job description

Job duties and responsibilities:

• Perform part machining to meet drawing requirements using machine tools such as a CNC lathe, milling machine, or grinding machine.
• Perform dimensional measurement and visual inspection of the part produced, ensuring conformity to specification, using metrology equipment such as a micrometer, height gauge, vernier caliper, bore gauge, etc.
• Perform part setup in the machine, comprising of aligning and securely holding the fixture, preparing the cutting tool, retrieving the CNC program, securing the part for machining, and qualifying the part for production.
• Monitor machining parameters, example feed, speed, cutter tool life, during the machining processes and provide suggestions for cycle time reduction.
• Pay attention to abnormalities in machine behavior during machining and report to the department supervisor for remedial action.
• Perform basic maintenance of machine tools, for example, refilling spindle oil, slide-way lubricating oil, and removing metal chips inside the machine and tool magazine.
• Perform regular cleaning of the machine, equipment, and the workplace. Maintain a high level of housekeeping.
  

Requirements

• Minimum ITE / Nitec in Precision Engineering or with at least 1 years of hands-on machining experience.
• No experience required as training will be provided
• Able to work on rotating shifts.
• Knowledge of Fanuc, Mazatrol, and Heidenhain programming languages is an added advantage.
