Job description

[What the role is]

As part of the Path Management Division, you will play a key role in the maintenance and lifecycle management of commuter facilities — including footpaths and cycling paths. You will ensure these active mobility assets remain safe, reliable, and well maintained to support Singapore’s walk cycle ride vision.

In addition to core engineering responsibilities, this role increasingly leverages digital tools, data analytics, and AI-enabled technologies to enhance asset performance and optimise maintenance strategies. You will also be expected to keep abreast of emerging trends in asset management, including predictive maintenance, smart sensors, and new materials/technologies relevant to active mobility infrastructure.

[What you will be working on]
Asset Management, Engineering & Maintenance
  • Manage the maintenance, inspection and lifecycle planning of active mobility assets such as footpaths, cycling paths, back lanes and other pedestrian-related infrastructure.
  • Ensure engineering soundness and safe operability of all infrastructure/facilities through proactive condition assessments, defect rectification and quality audits.
  • Lead or support the preparation of tender specifications, procurement documents and technical requirements for maintenance and improvement works.
  • Supervise term contractors and consultants to ensure safe, compliant and high‑quality execution of on‑site works.
  • Conduct quantity/quality audits, verify completion of works, and enforce safety and regulatory requirements for all contractors.
Technical & Professional Review
  • Review engineering designs, construction drawings and development submissions from consultants, developers and other agencies.
  • Provide technical guidance and professional advice on development projects affecting commuter and active mobility infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with public agencies, private developers and town councils on works impacting path networks and associated amenities.
Digitalisation, AI and Smart Asset Management
  • Apply AI-enabled tools, digital inspection platforms, and data-driven methods to support predictive or condition-based maintenance.
  • Use digital asset management systems, GIS tools and mobile inspection technologies to enhance productivity and reduce manual processes.
  • Support trials, pilots and implementation of new technologies such as:
    • smart sensors for structural/condition monitoring
    • AI-driven defect detection (e.g., via imagery or video analytics)
    • digital twins or integrated asset databases
    • advanced construction/maintenance materials and methods
  • Analyse asset performance data to derive insights, optimise maintenance schedules and enhance safety outcomes.
Stakeholder & Feedback Management
  • Manage and respond to public feedback related to active mobility paths, commuter facilities and related amenities.
  • Collaborate with internal divisions and external stakeholders to address issues and mitigate operational risks.
  • Communicate engineering decisions and technical assessments clearly and professionally.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
  • Keep abreast of evolving standards, engineering practices and technological advancements in transport infrastructure and asset management.
  • Recommend improvements to existing workflows, leveraging digitalisation and innovation to enhance safety, efficiency and service levels.

Participate in trials, pilots and evaluation of new technologies or methods relevant to path management and active mobility infrastructure.

[What we are looking for]
  • Knowledge in Civil Engineering, Facilities/Infrastructure Management, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge or interest in AI applications, digital asset management tools, GIS, and data analytics is an advantage.
  • Understanding of asset lifecycle management, active mobility infrastructure, or municipal maintenance will be beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Able to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • A positive mindset towards innovation, continuous learning and technological adoption.
  • Preferably, at least 1‑2 year work experience in direct or related field. However, applicants without prior experience are welcomed to apply.

As part of the shortlisting process for the role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and /or undergo further assessment.
