Job summary

MINDEF provides sound and timely legal advice to MINDEF/SAF departments on civil, international, operations and military law.

You will be involved in counseling, drafting contracts, supporting legislation matters, conducting legal training, advising on operations law, and assisting with SAF exercises and deployments while engaging with a broad range of stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with a law degree (LL.B. or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years PQE preferred.
• International law background advantageous.
• Strong legal analysis and writing/communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Responsibilities

Job description

What the role is:

You provide sound and timely legal advice to MINDEF/SAF departments on a wide spectrum of legal issues, in the areas of civil law, international law, operations law and military law.

What you will be working on:

• Provide legal counsel
• Handle military prosecutions in the military courts
• Review and draft contracts
• Support legislation matters
• Conduct legal training
• Advise on operations law
• Support SAF exercises and deployments
• Interacting with a wide spectrum of stakeholders (both legally and non-legally trained) and communicating legal advice clearly and effectively
• Being familiar with the wide areas of operations and policy in MINDEF

What we are looking for:

• Education in Law
• At least 2 years Post Qualification Experience (PQE) is preferred
• International Law background is advantageous
• Strong legal analysis and reasoning skills
• Good writing and communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team(Applicants with no experience may apply.)
