Job summary

Established Engineering and Construction Company in Singapore seeks an experienced Legal Counsel to provide broad legal support to group companies on contracts, corporate and commercial issues. You will review contracts, negotiate terms, and advise on regulatory compliance for major projects.

The role requires 8–12 years of PQE in construction law, excellence in communication, and the ability to work independently or in a team. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Law.
• 8–12 years’ post-qualification experience with construction law.
• Experience leading negotiation and finalisation of construction contracts.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on contracts, corporate and commercial issues.
• Support commercial, contract and claims management of projects.
• Assist in setting up subsidiaries, branches and offices; oversee closures.
• Coordinate with external counsel and monitor their progress.
• Advise business units on legal and contractual matters; undertake other duties as assigned.

• Working Days/Timings: Monday to Friday 8am to 5:30pm

Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice and support to the group of companies and business units on a broad range of legal, contractual, corporate and commercial issues; including contracts review, drafting, negotiation and advisory generally

• Support commercial, contract and claims management of projects

• Support setting up of subsidiaries, associates, branches and project offices, and the closing or liquidation of such set up

• Coordinate with external legal counsels and consultants and oversee the progress of their work

• Coordinate with and advise business units and departments on legal and contractual matters • Any other duties to be assigned from time to time
  

Requirements:

• Degree in Law

• 8 to 12 years’ post-qualification experience, with good knowledge of construction law and with significant experience in leading negotiation and finalisation of construction contracts, particularly for engineering, procurement and construction projects

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skill, pro-active and independent

• High attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks

• Willing to travel when required
