Job summary

Kaplan Higher Education Academy seeks a Lecturer to deliver high-quality English language tuition for adult learners. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, regularly assess student progress, and liaise with academic management on outcomes.

You will assist in designing course programmes and deliver teacher training workshops for professional development. Role includes module leadership, collaboration to refine content, and supporting adjunct lecturers.

Qualifications

• Minimum undergraduate degree in a related discipline. MA holders will be considered favourably.
• Minimum CELTA, Trinity Cert, or equivalent, plus 5 years post-course experience.
• Minimum DELTA, Trinity Diploma, or MA equivalent with an assessed practical component.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality lessons across PBEP and IGCSE programmes.
• Design, develop, and update course materials in line with academic frameworks and quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

THE ROLE: Lecturer

This role is focused on delivering high-quality teaching within our English language tuition programmes for adult learners, fostering student development, and advancing academic excellence within the institution. The position involves planning and delivering innovative lessons; assessing student progress throughout each term; liaising with the academic management team on student performance and course outcomes; assisting in the design of course programmes; and delivering teacher training workshops as part of the professional development process for lecturers

Key Responsibilities:

Primary Teaching Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality lessons across our PBEP and IGCSE programmes.
• Design, develop, and update course materials in alignment with academic frameworks and quality standards.
• Assess and provide timely feedback on coursework, examinations, and other student deliverables.
• Support student learning and development by offering academic advice and guidance on career and further study opportunities.

Professional Development Training Support

• Assist in the adoption and integration of e-learning tools and AI platforms to enhance teaching delivery.
• Assist the Head of School / Senior Lecturer in supporting adjunct lecturers in their ongoing professional development, including the delivery of professional development seminars to share best practice.

Programme Leadership and Coordination

• Act as a module leader/ discipline coordinator, coordinating teaching and assessment activities to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Collaborate with colleagues to review and refine programme content, delivery methods, and assessment standards.
• Assist the Head of School and Senior Lecturer in decision-making and planning for module and programme development.

Team and Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure programme relevance and student satisfaction.
• Promote student recruitment and retention through innovative approaches and effective teamwork.
• Contribute to departmental committees, working groups, and institution-wide initiatives as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Minimum undergraduate degree in a related discipline. MA holders will be considered favourably.
• Minimum CELTA, Trinity Cert, or equivalent, plus 5 years post-course experience.
• Minimum DELTA, Trinity Diploma, or MA equivalent with an assessed practical component.

Minimum Years of Experience

• 5 years of teaching experience post-CELTA (or equivalent) teaching adult learners.
• Experience preparing adult students for high-stakes exams.
• Course development and design experience would be advantageous.

• Ability to maintain tight schedules and meet set goals.
