Job description

Robotics Engineer – Job Description

Design robotic systems, components, and prototypes. Develop software for robot control, navigation, and decision‑making. Apply Control Systems Engineering and Artificial Intelligence to enable autonomous behaviour. Integrate hardware (sensors, actuators) with software systems and ensure smooth communication between embedded systems and the Yard Digital Twin. Utilize tools such as ROS (Robot Operating System). Test robotic systems in simulations and real‑world environments, identify bugs, performance issues, and safety risks, and validate functionality, accuracy, and reliability. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software issues, improve system efficiency, speed, and precision, and optimize algorithms for real‑time performance. Develop perception systems using cameras, LiDAR, and related technologies, apply computer vision techniques, and build intelligent behaviours using artificial intelligence. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (mechanical, electrical, software), communicate with product managers and stakeholders (security, safety, operations), participate in design reviews and planning sessions, deploy robots in production or operational environments, monitor performance, maintain systems, and provide updates, patches, and continuous improvements.

Job Requirements
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in robotics projects (e.g., university labs, competitions, or personal builds).
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and Python for building and controlling robotic systems.
  • Basic knowledge of robot simulation tools (e.g., Nvidia Isaac Lab) and familiarity with microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi).
  • Experience with robotic frameworks (e.g., ROS, Open‑RMF).
  • Strong involvement in system integration, combining hardware and software components.
  • Proven experience in testing and debugging robotic systems in real‑world environments.
  • Good understanding of kinematics, dynamics, and path planning for robotic movement.
  • Ability to design feedback loops using Control Systems Engineering principles.
  • Experience in using sensors and applying computer vision and artificial intelligence for decision‑making.
  • Exposure to Computer Vision, Control Systems Engineering, and VLA/VLM integration.
