Job summary

Grab is seeking a Lead Engineer to design, build, and maintain our service mesh and Kubernetes infrastructure that underpins our microservices architecture. You will own end-to-end deployment, traffic management, and observability while aligning with engineering teams to meet platform goals.

The role requires hands-on experience with istio/mesh tech, AWS EKS, and container orchestration. Onsite in Singapore, strong collaboration, and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in managing microservices architecture.
• Familiar with HTTP, TCP/IP, and gRPC.
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools, infrastructure as code.
• Proficiency in Go, Java, or Python.
• Familiarity with service mesh technologies like Istio, Linkerd, Consul.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes management like AWS EKS, GKE.
• Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with cloud-native stack and cloud-based environments (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and manage istio mesh infrastructure and k8s infrastructure.
• Collaborate with development teams to understand and cater to architecture needs.
• Implement and manage service discovery, load-balancing, traffic management, and observability.
• Manage workload deployment and scheduling within AWS EKS.
• Respond to service interruptions and assist in capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Monitor service operations to detect and troubleshoot issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of DevOps practices.
