Job summary

POET Technologies Inc. seeks a Principal Engineer (Transmit) to lead the development and productization of optical engine transmit modules for high-speed transceivers.

You will integrate EML transmitters, modulators, and waveguide components into robust engine products intended for large-scale production. The role emphasizes system integration, characterization, and manufacturing readiness over device design, with collaboration across photonics and packaging teams to ensure market-ready

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, or related field.
• Master's or PhD in photonics and optoelectronics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead Transmit Productization: drive end-to-end development of optical engine transmit modules for high-volume manufacturing.
• Translate specifications: convert device capabilities into optical engine performance specs and validation plans.
• Component characterization: develop plans for EMLs, high-speed modulators, and photonic waveguides.
• Evaluate key metrics: analyze optical output power, extinction ratio, bandwidth, and temperature dependence.
• System integration: collaborate with design teams to integrate laser sources and modulators.
• Manufacturing strategy: establish test flows for transmit module screening and validation.
• Yield & reliability analysis: identify variations, detractors, and reliability risks.
• Automated data workflows: implement data analysis and reporting tools for root-cause analysis.
• Cross-functional technical support: assist packaging and sales with documentation and specs.
