Job summary

Kerry Consulting is seeking a Lead Engineer for a Singapore-based robotics team focused on Multi-Robot Systems and swarm intelligence. The role combines robotics, distributed systems, and AI to develop autonomous platforms capable of collaborative decision-making in dynamic environments.

You will lead software architecture, implement ROS2-based solutions, and work across simulation and real hardware. The ideal candidate has advanced degrees and hands-on experience with decentralized coordination

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience designing or developing multi-robot, multi-agent, or swarm systems.
• Knowledge of distributed and decentralized robotic architectures.
• Strong programming in C++ and/or Python with robotics/real-time work.

Overview
A leading advanced technology and robotics organization is hiring a Lead Engineer to join its Singapore-based engineering team focused on Multi-Robot Systems (MRS) and swarm intelligence solutions. This role sits at the intersection of robotics, distributed systems, and AI, supporting the development of autonomous robotic platforms capable of collaborative decision-making and coordinated operations in dynamic real-world environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical development of multi-robot and swarm autonomy capabilities, covering coordination, task allocation, collaborative behaviors, distributed perception, and communication.
• Architect and build software that enables multiple autonomous robots to exchange information, make decentralized decisions, and operate effectively as a coordinated system.
• Develop and enhance robotics applications using ROS2, including the integration of sensors, hardware interfaces, autonomy components, and supporting infrastructure.
• Evaluate and implement approaches across distributed data fusion, localization, SLAM, motion planning, and robotic control.
• Prototype and test new concepts using simulation environments such as Isaac Sim, Gazebo/Ignition, Webots, or Unity Robotics, followed by validation on physical robotic platforms.
• Translate application and customer requirements into practical technical architectures and engineering solutions.
• Provide senior technical input on emerging developments in Multi-Robot Systems (MRS), swarm robotics, Physical AI, and autonomous systems.
• Drive selected technical capability-building and R&D initiatives, exploring new applications and approaches for collaborative robotic systems.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong hands-on background designing or developing multi-robot, multi-agent, or swarm robotic systems.
• Deep understanding of distributed and decentralized robotic architectures, including Distributed Autonomous Systems, Multi-Agent Systems, and swarm-based approaches.
• Knowledge of decentralized coordination and swarm techniques such as Contract Net Protocol (CNP), Petri nets, Boids, and Particle Swarm Optimization.
• Solid robotics fundamentals spanning SLAM, localization, distributed data fusion, motion planning, and control systems.
• Strong programming capability in C++ and/or Python, with practical exposure to robotics or real-time software development.
• Experience with ROS2, microservices, distributed systems, or real-time architectures would be valuable, together with familiarity with technologies such as DDS, pub/sub messaging, or gRPC.
• Exposure to Generative AI or Agentic AI frameworks and their application to intelligent or autonomous systems would be advantageous.
• Comfortable moving between research, rapid prototyping, system-level debugging, simulation, and production-oriented engineering.
