Dyson Institute in Singapore seeks a Lead iOS Engineer to own significant areas of the iOS platform, lead complex feature development, and help shape our technical direction. You will collaborate with product, design, QA, cloud, and embedded teams to deliver scalable, reliable mobile experiences.
With 8+ years of hands-on iOS shipping, you bring deep Swift expertise and fluency in MVVM or Clean Architecture, async/await, and unit/UI testing.
We own and develop the Dyson Link Smart home app, which is at the forefront of Dyson's IoT experience. We are proud of what we have built so far; we have an App Store and Google Play rating of 4.5 and 4.3 stars respectively, we have more than 1 million active users worldwide and our IoT platform has over 3 million connected Dyson machines. We have huge ambition to grow this platform and as we connect more machines from more categories the challenge is significant.
We are looking for an Lead iOS Engineer to join our mobile app team. This is a senior individual contributor role where you will take ownership of significant areas of the iOS platform, lead complex feature development, and contribute to shaping our technical direction. You are skilled in iOS engineering, proactive in driving improvements, and comfortable working across teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
Our iOS app uses a modular architecture and follows modern design patterns such as MVVM and/or Clean Architecture. We primarily use: Swift as our core language Swift Concurrency (async/await) and Combine for asynchronous programming UIKit and increasingly SwiftUI for UI development Dependency injection patterns for modular and testable code Networking layers built on URLSession and/or third-party abstractions Our testing stack includes XCTest for unit and UI testing. We continuously evaluate tools and frameworks to enhance code quality, developer productivity, and app performance.
Own and deliver complex features and systems within the iOS app, ensuring high quality and scalability Contribute to architectural decisions and technical design, collaborating with senior engineers and tech leads Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code aligned with modern iOS best practices Work closely with cross-functional teams including product, design, QA, cloud, and embedded engineering Drive improvements in app performance, reliability, and maintainability Participate actively in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions, providing thoughtful feedback Mentor and guide other engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing Evaluate and drive adoption of new tools, frameworks, and approaches to enhance engineering effectiveness Contribute to technical planning by providing input on trade-offs, dependencies, and implementation strategies
You are passionate about building high-quality mobile experiences that improve users’ everyday lives You thrive in collaborative, Agile environments and take ownership of your work You have 8+ years of experience building and shipping iOS applications used by real customers You have strong expertise in Swift and modern iOS architectures (e.g., MVVM, Clean Architecture) You are experienced with asynchronous programming (e.g., async/await, Combine, or similar) You have a solid understanding of app performance, memory management, and debugging You are experienced with unit and UI testing, and understand the importance of quality engineering practices You have experience owning features or subsystems end-to-end, from design to production You are comfortable influencing technical decisions within your team You actively support and mentor other engineers You are pragmatic and delivery-focused, while maintaining a high bar for engineering quality You are comfortable using AI-powered developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar) to improve productivity, applying sound engineering judgment to validate outputs
