A*STAR Research Entities (A*STAR) invites applications for a Climate Domain Specialist to empower national climate modelling on the NSCC supercomputer. You will translate scientific goals into scalable, high‑performance simulations and collaborate with climate researchers across disciplines.

You will apply expertise in large‑scale numerical simulation, CFD, AI-driven modelling, and HPC software development, supporting the research community and guiding future HPC strategy within Singapore's

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, computational science, atmospheric science, applied mathematics, or another relevant field.
• Ideally, 3 years of experience in climate/weather simulation, CFD, AI-driven weather modelling, or other large-scale numerical simulation workloads.
• Experience building scientific modelling and simulation applications from source code.
• Strong knowledge of performance optimization, profiling and troubleshooting for compute-intensive workloads.
• Familiarity with climate/weather/CFD tools such as ICON, LFRic, MPAS, NEMO, WRF, OpenFOAM, SU2.
• Experience with HPC development toolchains and scientific software stacks.
• Proficiency with Linux, scripting, HPC profilers, and debuggers.
• Experience with HPC job schedulers, OpenMP & MPI, and container tech.
• Familiarity with GPFS and Lustre storage is a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork, with a willingness to learn and adapt.

• Provide HPC and scientific domain advice to NSCC users.
• Collaborate with researchers and disciplines with heavy computational needs.
• Support and optimize large-scale simulations.
• Work with HPC performance engineers to profile and model performance.
• Design and implement HPC software best practices for large applications.
• Assist planning of future HPC systems and benchmark workloads.
• Develop HPC utilities and automated testing tools.
• Develop HPC user guides and best practices.
• Stay updated with developments in scientific computing and HPC.
