Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related technical disciplines.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on system/network administration, infrastructure architecture, or cloud operations.
• Proven track record maintaining 24/7 operational systems with strict SLAs and rapid response times.
• Deep knowledge of Active Directory, GPO, Domain Controllers, File/App Servers, and Patch Management.
• Hands-on experience with Hypervisors (VMware/Hyper-V/Nutanix) and large-scale private/public cloud infra.
• Experience with SAN/NAS, backup appliances, and enterprise networking concepts (VLANs, Firewalls).
• Experience conducting IT/compliance audits and strong cybersecurity know-how.
• Proficiency with ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNOW) and systems engineering lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Hands-On Infrastructure Management: manage enterprise services including network equipment, AD, file/app servers, hypervisors, and storage; ensure availability.
• System Life-Cycle Engineering: oversee lifecycle from procurement to deployment, patching, sustainment, and migration.
• Technical Problem Solving: Tier-3 escalation for server/network incidents; minimize downtime.
• Vendor & Warranty Management: own vendor deliverables and ensure warranty/maintenance specs before handover.
• Security & Compliance: implement security best practices and lead remediations for IT audits and compliance checks.

The ICT Infrastructure Sustainment Centre is dedicated to delivering robust and reliable information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure solutions that empower the operations of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The jobholder is responsible for a hands-on technical lead to manage the mission-critical infrastructure that powers MHA/HTX operations. In this role, you will not just oversee systems; you will be the technical authority ensuring the availability, security, and performance of enterprise-wide server and network ecosystems. If you thrive in complex environments involving Network, Active Directory, Shared Storage, and Hybrid Cloud networks, and prefer getting your hands dirty with technical problem-solving over pure administrative oversight.

What You Will Be Working On

The principal accountabilities of the job holder are to:

• Hands-On Infrastructure Management: Directly manage and maintain enterprise services including Network equipment, Active Directory, File/Application Servers, Hypervisors, and Storage systems. Ensure optimal performance of network connectivity and server availability.
• System Life-Cycle Engineering: Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of ICT systems—from technical evaluation and procurement to deployment, patching, sustainment, and eventual refresh/migration.
• Technical Problem Solving: Serve as the Tier-3 escalation point for complex server and network incidents. Troubleshoot high-priority issues to minimize downtime for user operations.
• Vendor & Warranty Management: Technical ownership of vendor deliverables. validate that systems in warranty/maintenance phases meet rigorous performance specifications before handover.
• Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce security best practices (system hardening, GPO management). Lead technical remediations for IT audits and compliance checks.

What We Are Looking For

Candidates should possess:

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related technical disciplines.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on working experience in system/ network administration, infrastructure architecture, or cloud operations.
• Proven track record in maintaining 24/7 operational systems with strict SLAs and rapid response times.
• Proactive self-starter capable of driving technical projects with minimal supervision.
• Deep Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPO), Domain Controllers, File/App Servers, and Patch Management.
• Hands-on experience with Hypervisors (VMware/Hyper-V/ Nutanix) and designing/operating large-scale private/public cloud infrastructure.
• Management of Shared Storages (SAN/NAS), Backup Appliances, and understanding of enterprise networking concepts (VLANs, Load Balancing, Routing, Firewalls) required for systems interconnectivity.
• Experience conducting and remediating IT/Compliance Audits. Strong grasp of cybersecurity frameworks and system hardening.
• Proficiency with ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNOW) and Systems Engineering lifecycle management.
• All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
