Job summary

Singtel is seeking a Lead Data Scientist in the AI & Data Analytics (AIDA) unit to strategize and execute advanced analytics and AI/ML initiatives that shape Singtel’s future. You will lead a team of data scientists, translate business priorities into scalable AI solutions, and partner with stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes across telco products and services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related field.
• 8+ years of relevant working experience in data science or analytics.
• Proven expertise in machine learning, statistical modelling, and AI/ML lifecycle.
• Experience with LLMs and Generative AI, including prompt engineering and evaluation.
• Strong SQL, Python, Spark, Hadoop/Hive, and Databricks skills.
• Data visualization with tools like Power BI.
• Familiarity with software engineering practices, testing, and version control.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and ML tooling.
• Excellent problem solving and communication; able to work in a team.
• Leadership and coaching abilities to mentor data scientists.

Role Summary

As a Lead Data Scientist within the AI & Data Analytics (AIDA) business unit, you will play a strategic and hands‑on role in shaping advanced analytics and AI/ML capabilities that anticipate market shifts and their impact on Singtel’s business. You will help drive high‑impact, data-informed decisions across the organization by uncovering deep customer insights, improving operational performance, and enabling new revenue opportunities.

In this role, you will lead and scale key AI initiatives that enhance the personalization and delivery of telco products and services. You will design and deploy predictive models across areas such as customer eligibility, purchase propensity, and cross‑sell optimization. You will also partner closely with business stakeholders and external collaborators to architect and deliver end‑to‑end AI/ML solutions that translate data into measurable business value.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Lead and Scale Data Science Initiatives: Own and drive large-scale AI and ML programs that deliver measurable business impact for Singtel SG. Lead a team of data scientists to translate strategic priorities into actionable roadmaps, define high‑value problem statements, and architect end‑to‑end solutions, including the use of Generative AI and LLMs where relevant. Ensure alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and partner expectations while maintaining clear accountability for outcomes, timelines, and value realization.
• Model Strategy, Development and Operationalization: Set the technical direction for model design, development, and productionization across customer journeys. Oversee the integration of models into decision engines and enterprise systems, ensuring robustness, scalability, explainability, and governance at scale. Establish best practices for model lifecycle management, monitoring, and continuous improvement while guiding the team to deliver production‑ready solutions that meet enterprise standards.
• Customer Behavior & Lifecycle Analysis: Leverage customer behavioral data across Singtel’s Mobile, Broadband, and entertainment services to uncover actionable insights related to life stage, affluence, and lifestyle preferences. Maintain and enhance analytical models that inform segmentation, product targeting, and value‑based engagement strategies. Enable data exploration, insight discovery, and controlled experimentation (e.g., A/B testing, uplift modeling) to support lifecycle marketing and campaign optimization.
• Data Exploration & Experimentation: Enable robust data exploration, insight discovery, and experimentation for lifecycle marketing campaigns. Devise and execute rigorous A/B tests, segmentations, and optimization strategies to continuously improve business outcomes.
• Technical Leadership and Team Development: Provide strong technical leadership across the data science team. Mentor and coach team members to raise the bar on modeling depth, engineering rigor, and problem‑solving capability. Establish high standards for code quality, reproducibility, documentation, and collaboration, while fostering knowledge sharing and professional growth.
• Executive Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders. Communicate complex analytical concepts and business implications clearly and persuasively to technical and non‑technical audiences. Influence strategic decisions through data‑backed recommendations and ensure alignment between analytics initiatives and enterprise priorities.

Skills For Success

• Bachelor or Postgraduate degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field, with at least 8 years of relevant working experience.
• Deep technical and data science expertise, demonstrating proficiency in:
• Machine Learning & Statistical Modelling: Including linear regression, GLMs, time series forecasting, supervised learning (e.g., gradient boosted trees, neural networks), segmentation, clustering, design of experiments, and causal inference.
• LLMs & Generative AI: Fine‑tuning and evaluation of large language models (e.g., GPT, LLaMA), prompt engineering, red‑teaming, and performance monitoring
• Efficient data manipulation (with skills in SQL, Python, Spark, Hadoop/Hive, and Databricks) and data visualization (using tools like Power BI).
• Familiar with software engineering best practices, including modular code design, reproducibility, and testing. Proficient with version control tools such as GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket
• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure AWS, GCP) and ML lifecycle tools (e.g., MLflow, Airflow)
• Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify and solve complex business problems through data analysis.
• A team player with a customer-focused mindset, able to work well in a team and passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences.
• Excellent data visualization and communication skills, with the ability to present insights and findings in a clear, concise, and compelling manner, both in written and verbal form.
