Job summary

Google's Hardware Operations team maintains the physical infrastructure behind Google's services. As an Operations Technician in Singapore, you will install, configure, test, and maintain servers and components, and work on networking gear.

The role involves manual movement of racks and occasional heavy lifting, with non-standard hours required. We value experience with Linux, server maintenance, and collaborating across teams; successful candidates will adapt to shift-based schedules and help

Qualifications

• 4 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware and server hardware.
• Experience with network protocols, maintenance of server systems, troubleshooting hardware and network issues using Linux tools.
• Experience with performing component-level repairs on IT equipment.
• Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and perform physical work over extended periods.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays, and shift-based schedules.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate across teams to manage construction and facilities activities for service vendors, ensuring safety and compliance.
• Compile and analyze data to create scripts and tools for data center tracking and reporting.
• Provide expertise and mentorship to deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across teams.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose moderately complex issues with equipment or infrastructure and identify resources needed to resolve them.
• Own repair, fix, and preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, and infrastructure with limited precedent.
