Job summary

The Lecturer is based in the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) and teaches English Language and Communication as well as National Education (NE) and Life Skills modules. The Lecturer’s responsibilities include designing, delivering and reviewing learner-centred curriculum that strengthens students’ language proficiency, communication, critical thinking and confidence for progression to diploma studies.

• Relevant qualification or experience in English Language, Applied Linguistics, Communication Studies, Mass Communication or related fields.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead and facilitate discussions, mediate opinions, and evaluate reasoning.
• Familiarity with educational technologies and digital learning platforms.

What the role is

The Lecturer is based in the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) and teaches English Language and Communication as well as National Education (NE) and Life Skills modules. The Lecturer’s responsibilities includes designing, delivering and reviewing learner‑centred curriculum, that strengthens students’ language proficiency, communication, critical thinking and confidence for progression to diploma studies. The Lecturer also designs appropriate assessments and learning resources, uses educational technology and generative AI purposefully, provides academic and pastoral support, and contributes to curriculum innovation, student development and Centre/School/Polytechnic initiatives.

What you will be working on

Key Responsibilities Curriculum Design & Delivery Design, develop, deliver, and review Language and Communication as well as National Education (NE) and Life Skills curriculum for PET and CET learners. Plan engaging learning experiences across face‑to‑face, online and blended modes, using authentic and applied communication contexts. Incorporate instructional design frameworks and ensure curriculum relevance to educational and industry standards. Differentiate instructions and learning resources to address varying levels of readiness, language proficiency and learning needs of students. Assessment & Instructional Innovation Deliver innovative and experiential lessons in face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats. Develop online learning packages, and self‑directed learning resources with diagnostic or proficiency activities. Integrate generative AI and digital platforms to enhance pedagogy and assessment Design and review assessments, marking rubrics and feedback approaches that demonstrate students' competencies. Use educational technologies and generative AI responsibly to enhance learning, feedback and assessment while developing students' critical use of AI. Research & Industry Engagement Conduct research on current educational trends to ensure curriculum effectiveness. Engage in student‑industry or community‑based activities that enrich applied learning. Student Support & Development Monitor students' learning progress, analyse learning evidence and implement timely, targeted interventions for students who require additional support or challenge. Provide academic, career guidance, and pastoral care, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Organise and take an active part in student development events and activities, such as orientation, enrichment programmes and student engagement events. Organise and accompany students on overseas learning experiences, such as the Overseas Community Involvement Programme (OCIP) and Global Learning (GL) trips. Professional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Engage in reflective practice, professional learning and educational inquiry to improve curriculum and teaching effectiveness. Collaborate with colleagues and relevant internal or external partners to develop authentic learning experiences and share effective practices. Participate in orientation, outreach, and committee work at Centre, School, and Polytechnic levels. Contribute actively to institutional initiatives that enhance student engagement and success.

What we are looking for

Relevant qualification or experience in English Language, Applied Linguistics, Communication Studies, Mass Communication or related fields. Teaching experience is preferred, but not required. Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis is preferred, but not required. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead and facilitate discussions, mediate opinions, and evaluate reasoning. Passion for teaching, learning, and working with youth and adult learners. Effective team player, adaptable in a fast‑paced environment. Familiarity with educational technologies, generative AI tools, and digital learning platforms. Supervisory or leadership experience is preferred, but not required.
