Job summary

Samsung Electronics Device Solution is seeking a Laboratory Operations Engineer to manage the advanced semiconductor and optical packaging lab at DSRS in Singapore, ensuring equipment uptime, inventory control, and safety/compliance adherence, while supporting R&D engineers during prototype characterization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in science or engineering major (materials, electrical/electronic, mechanical, chemistry or physics).
• Minimum 2 years of cleanroom lab management experience.
• Hands-on with optical assembly equipment; optical testers and bonders are a plus.
• Knowledge of optical packaging and heterogeneous photonics IC packaging is preferred.
• Knowledge of packaging materials such as UV epoxies, solder pastes, polymers and ceramics.

Responsibilities

• LaboratoryEquipmentManagement: support operation of assembly, metrology and optical test equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
• Material & Sample Inventory Management: track procurement of lab consumables and oversee prototypes.
• Facility Infrastructure & Compliance: maintain safe, compliant lab environment and document test data.
• Provide technical feedback from lab testing to DSRS engineers during prototype characterization.

AbouttheRole:

LaboratoryOperationsEngineerplaysacriticalroleinensuringtheseamlessoperationoftheDeviceSolutionResearchSingapore(DSRS)center.Thispositionisresponsibleforthecomprehensivemanagementofadvancedsemiconductorandopticalpackaginglaboratoryinfrastructure,includinghigh-precisionequipmentmaintenance,materialinventorycontrol,andstrictadherencetosafetyandcompliancestandards.Theidealcandidatewillactasatechnicalbridge,supportingR&Dengineersbymaintaininganoptimaltestingenvironmentandprovidingvaluabletechnicalfeedbackduringtheprototypecharacterizationprocess.

Responsibilities:

Material&SampleInventoryManagement

• Managetrackingandtimelyprocurementofcommonlabconsumablesandequipment-attachedconsumables.
• Overseethetrackingandorganizationofprototypesamples.
• Facilitateandassistinprocurementprocesseswithexternalvendors.

FacilityInfrastructure&Compliance

• Maintainasafe,compliant,andwell-functioninglaboratoryenvironment.
• Takefullresponsibilityforalllaboratory-relatedsafetyprotocolsandregulatorycompliancematters.
• Compilerawdataandprovidelab-leveltestreportstoSGResearchengineers,offeringactivetechnicalfeedbackobservedduringtesting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelordegreeinascienceorengineeringmajorlikematerialengineering,electric/electronicengineering,mechanicalengineering,chemistryorphysics.
• Minimum2yearsofexperienceofcleanroomlabmanagement.
• Hands-onexperiencewithopticalassemblyequipmentlikeopticaltester,activeoptical6-axisaligner,passivepick&place,wirebonder,diebonder,flip-chipbonder,epoxydispenser,andUVcuringtoolswillbeaplus.
• GoodunderstandingofopticalpackagingandopticalalignmenttechnologiesaswellasheterogeneouspackagingofphotonicsICandelectronicICwithadvancedpackagingtechnologiesispreferred.
• KnowledgeandexperienceinCPOandopticsprocesses,integrationandcharacterization.
• KnowledgeonpackagingmaterialssuchasUVepoxies,conductiveepoxies,solders,3Dprintingmaterials,polymer,glass,ceramicandmagneticmaterials.
