Job summary

Qualifications

• PhD in mechanical/electrical/mechatronics/robotics with automation focus.
• 1–3 years of work experience preferred.
• Expertise in adaptive disassembly manufacturing or sustainable manufacturing a plus.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Capability Development and Technology InnovationDevelop intelligent systems and platforms that transform domain knowledge, operational procedures, and user inputs into executable workflows and automation strategiesDevelop approaches for planning, reasoning, decision-making, and adaptive execution under changing operational conditionsGenerate intellectual property, publications and technology assets arising from research and project activities, aligning to the growth of organisational capabilities and technology roadmapsLead technical development, work packages and mentor junior researchers and engineers in the development and deployment of intelligent solutions
2. Proposal Development and Strategic GrowthDevelop research proposals, grant applications, and industry project opportunities aligned with organisational priorities and strategic objectivesIdentify emerging technology trends, industry needs, and innovation opportunities to shape future research directions and capability developmentContribute to the development of technical roadmaps, value propositions, and solution concepts to support business development, capability‑building initiatives, and long‑term growth
3. Industry and Research Project Development and ExecutionEngage industry partners to identify challenges, define problem statements, scope projects, and develop innovative manufacturing and adaptive automation solutionsLead or support project execution across the technology development lifecycle, from conceptualisation, design and analysis to prototyping, validation and deployment of the proposed solution to industry manufacturingConduct independent research while contributing effectively as a team player within a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

1. PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics with specialisation in automation and manufacturing systems, or related disciplines
2. 1-3 years of work experience
3. We value the following skills for an adaptive disassembly manufacturing system and sustainable manufacturing process

• • Strong foundation in robotics, mechatronics and automation, with hands‑on experience in evaluating the performance of the feedback system in real‑time
  • Working knowledge or hands‑on experience in intelligent task planning and decision‑making, especially using AI‑enabled approaches, for an autonomous system
  • Familiar with MATLAB/Simulink, Python and/or C/C++, and motion simulation tools
  • Experience in one or more of the following areasPerception system- vision, force/torque sensing and tactile sensingDigital twins and simulation environmentsSensor fusion and state estimation
