Role Summary

The laboratory Officer in our Metal Forming R&D team plays an important role in supporting will support the development, optimization, and industrial implementation of advanced metal forming technologies. You will work with a diverse team of scientists and engineers to conduct experiments, collect and analyse data, and ensure the safe, efficient, and smooth operation of laboratory facilities. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and laboratory management skills, and a passion for engineering and applied research. You will also support equipment maintenance, laboratory safety and compliance activities, inventory management, and the preparation of test setups to enable the team's research and development projects.

Job Descriptions

• Set up and conduct experiments and trials to support project execution, including data collection, processing, and analysis where required.
• Learn and progressively master the operation of forming presses, heat treatment furnaces, industrial robots, rolling machines, and eventually set up and run forming experiments independently.
• Assist in conducting experimental testing, heat treatment trials, and process evaluations of metallic materials to support research and development activities.
• Support material and mechanical testing, including tensile, compression, hardness, and other relevant characterization methods.
• Support metallographic and microstructural characterization, including specimen preparation, polishing, etching, and optical microscopy.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot manufacturing and laboratory equipment, including forming presses, rolling mills, robotic systems, furnaces, and related experimental facilities
• Perform sourcing and procurement of materials, consumables, tooling, and equipment, and liaise with suppliers and vendors where required.
• Carry out experimental procedures in strict adherence to safety standards and established protocols.
• Maintain the laboratory, including equipment upkeep, asset management, and inventory control.
• Assist in documenting experimental results and maintaining accurate laboratory and project records.

Job Requirements

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Preferably 1-2 years of relevant working experience; fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
• Hands-on experience or interest in manufacturing, metal forming, machining, fabrication, or laboratory testing.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo).
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, measurement tools, and workshop practices.
• Ability to conduct experiments, collect data, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Good teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
