The Barkery Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily production. You will prepare ingredients, assist with baking, maintain hygiene standards, and follow recipes under the Kitchen Manager’s direction. No prior baking experience needed, training will be provided.

This role suits someone dependable, detail-oriented, and genuinely interested in the pet industry. You will work in a small, close-knit team dedicated to humane, human-grade dog treats.

Qualifications

• Reliable and punctual; production depends on starting on time.
• Careful and precise with measurements and instructions.

• Genuine interest in dogs and the pet industry.
• Able to stand for extended periods and communicate in English.
• Experience in a commercial kitchen or F&B is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prep ingredients accurately according to recipes, including weighing and portioning.
• Handle raw ingredients with hygiene and care.
• Ensure ingredients are ready for the day's production schedule.
• Raise concerns about ingredient quality or shortages to the Kitchen Manager.
• Assist with daily baking tasks under supervision of Kitchen Manager or senior staff.
• Operate mixers, ovens, and scales safely and as trained.
• Follow recipes and SOPs without deviation.
• Maintain product consistency across batches.
• Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
• Keep the kitchen and workstations clean and sanitised.

About the role

The Kitchen Assistant is the backbone of our daily production. Working under the direction of the Kitchen Manager, you will prepare ingredients, assist with baking and production, and maintain the hygiene and food safety standards our products depend on. This is a hands-on, practical role suited to someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and genuinely interested in the pet industry. You do not need baking or professional kitchen experience — we will train you. What we cannot train is care, consistency, and turning up.

Key responsibilities

• Prep ingredients accurately according to recipes, including weighing, measuring, and portioning

• Handle raw ingredients with appropriate care and hygiene

• Ensure ingredients are ready and staged for the day's production schedule

• Flag any concerns about ingredient quality, freshness, or shortage to the Kitchen Manager

• Assist with daily baking tasks (mixing, shaping, portioning, decorating, finishing) under the direction of the Kitchen Manager or a senior team member

• Operate kitchen equipment safely and as trained (mixers, ovens, scales)

• Follow recipes and standard operating procedures accurately, without deviation

• Maintain product consistency across batches

• Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming

• Keep the kitchen and workstations clean, organised, and sanitised throughout the shift

About you

• Reliable and punctual — the production schedule depends on the kitchen starting on time

• Careful and precise with measurements and instructions; able to follow a recipe or SOP exactly as written

• Strong personal hygiene discipline and willingness to work to strict food safety standards

• Genuine interest in dogs and the pet industry, and comfortable handling ingredients intended for pet consumption

• Comfortable handling raw meat, poultry, seafood and offal-based proteins

• Physically able to stand for extended periods

• Able to communicate clearly in English with the kitchen team

• Willing to learn, take direction, and raise issues early rather than work around them

• Prior experience in a commercial kitchen, bakery, central kitchen, or F&B production environment (advantageous)

• Food hygiene certification (e.g. WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1) (advantageous)
