Hanwha Ocean Global Project Execution Center Pte. Ltd. is seeking a BD Manager to lead business development, client engagement, and commercial strategy across vessel types.
You will manage market analysis, customer development, and support for contract execution and post-contract activities. Responsibilities include market entry strategy, proposal development, and collaboration with design, production, and legal teams to align technical and financial inputs.
Position Overview:
The BD Manager is responsible for leading business development, customer engagement, and commercial strategy across various vessel types and marine solutions (e.g., LNGC, containerships, tankers). This role encompasses end-to-end management of the project execution and lifecycle—from market analysis and client development to supporting sales with contract execution and post-contract support. The manager also leads proposal development in response to RFIs/RFPs and coordinates with cross-functional teams to align technical, financial, and legal inputs.
Responsibilities:
Market Research & Strategic Planning
Analyze trends by vessel type and monitor emerging regulations and government policies
Conduct competitor benchmarking and develop entry strategies for new markets
Market Entry Strategies, Customer/Partner Engagement & Business Development
Develop market entry strategies for business development opportunities including mapping customer needs and providing Marketing Engineering for requirements
Identify potential customer or partner screening including shipowners, operators, government entities, and others including venture capital and private equity
Lead meetings with international clients and attend key industry events (e.g., Gastech, CMA Shipping)
Proposal, JV structure, & Quotation Management
Draft MOU and/or JV structure non-binding proposals
Respond to New business RFI/RFPs(not existing sales portfolio) with tailored proposals and pricing strategies
Collaborate with design, production, planning, and estimating teams to prepare technical and commercial offers
Project Execution
Prepare project summaries and gain alignment with management
Lead the business development opportunity development and project execution
Work with legal and finance teams to finalize terms
Support Sales Teams with Pre and Post-Contract Support (not existing product line sales)
Serve as main liaison with strategic clients and integrated projects throughout the project lifecycle
Internal Reporting & Coordination
Prepare executive-level reports and sales performance updates
Align with HQ stakeholders to ensure consistent communication and approvals
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree or higher preferably in Marine Engineering, Transportation or similar field
Familiar and conversant with TCP, SBC, and reporting
Project Management experience and ability to run cash flow/owners return models
10+ years of experience in shipyard marketing or business development or Practical experience in a consulting firm
Strong understanding of maritime industry and commercial vessels
