Job summary

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Broker to join our Containers team in Singapore. You will be responsible for developing and managing client relationships, identifying commercial opportunities, and negotiating and executing fixtures across key trading routes. Working closely with owners, charterers, traders and internal stakeholders, you will leverage your market knowledge and expertise to deliver successful outcomes for clients while maximising business performance.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in shipbroking, strong market awareness, and excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills. Commercially minded and driven, you will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be motivated to grow your portfolio, generate revenue and contribute to the continued success of the business.

What you’ll be doing
  • Support and work closely with Senior Brokers on the Containers desk in developing and executing broking opportunities.
  • Market vessels, requirements and relevant opportunities to Owners, Charterers and other clients within the Containers market.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients, while actively identifying and building relationships with new Owners and Charterers.
  • Assist with negotiations between Owners and Charterers, including freight/hire rates, commercial terms and other key terms of a fixture.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of vessel positions, market movements, freight/hire levels and other developments within the Containers market.
  • Prepare and circulate daily market reports, position lists and other relevant market information to clients.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities and potential new business.
  • Provide timely market information, analysis and trade ideas to clients to support their commercial decision-making.
  • Assist with fixtures from initial enquiry through to conclusion, including preparation of recaps, charter parties and other relevant fixture documentation where required.
  • Represent the business through client meetings, industry events and business travel where required.
  • Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
  • Maintain accurate records of client activity, fixtures, market information and business development opportunities.
  • Continue to build strong knowledge and expertise of the Containers market, including key Owners, Charterers, trade routes, vessel supply/demand and broader market dynamics.

Other requirements
  • Proven track record in shipbroking.
  • Demonstrable ability to identify and convert commercial opportunities into successful fixtures.
  • Existing industry relationships and a strong network within the market would be advantageous.
  • At least 2 years' strong experience and market knowledge within the relevant market segment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Danish, both verbal and written, to liaise with clients.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, able to develop and maintain long-term client partnerships.
  • Driven, self-motivated and commercially focused.
  • Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills.
  • Confident and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
