Job summary

AMSPEC TESTING SERVICES PTE. LTD. is seeking a laboratory technician to conduct laboratory testing and analysis of oil and gas/chemical samples, reporting results using prescribed standard test methods.

The role requires accurate record-keeping, reporting, adherence to GLP, safety and quality controls, and the ability to work under pressure on a 12-hour rotating shift after probation. Training will be provided to suitable candidates.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in science or chemistry is required.
• Experience in OGC lab work is an advantage.
• Able to follow ASTM standards and procedures.
• Comfortable working with chemicals, petrochemical and petroleum products.
• Good colour vision for differentiating samples.
• Able to multitask and work under pressure with deadlines.
• Willing to learn GLP and adhere to safety standards.
• Dependable with good attendance and commitment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of oil and gas / chemical (OGC) samples using prescribed standard test methods, techniques, and instruments.
• Interpret and report test results accurately and in a timely manner based on established test methods.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of all analyses performed.
• Complete laboratory reports as required.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols, quality control procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Keep updated on laboratory safety practices, reporting techniques, and analytical methods.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Diploma / Degree in Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Relevant work experience in the OGC industry or a laboratory environment is an advantage.
• Ability to understand and follow ASTM standards and procedures.
• Comfortable working with chemicals, petrochemical, and petroleum products.
• Able to accurately differentiate colours by sight.
• Able to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks with different deadlines.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
