Job summary

re-zoo-me in Singapore is seeking a Java Game Server Engineer to own and scale backend systems for live operations. You will lead architecture design of server components, optimize performance, and drive robust, secure networking foundations for a scalable game backend.

The role requires 3+ years of server-side game development, strong Java, Linux, and concurrency expertise, plus English fluency and Mandarin for cross-functional collaboration with Mandarin-speaking teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent).
• 3+ years of server-side development experience in the game industry.
• Strong Java skills with JVM internals and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in Linux environments.
• Solid understanding of concurrency and async messaging/queues.
• Experience with socket/network programming.
• Experience with Redis, MySQL and MongoDB and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with design patterns, algorithms, and data structures.
• Strong ownership and communication, able to solve complex problems independently.
• Strong English communication skills; Mandarin working proficiency for cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture design of game server systems, including communication protocols and module/service breakdown.
• Build and maintain core server features, with ongoing refactoring and codebase improvements.
• Drive performance, networking, and data optimizations to ensure stability, scalability, security, and efficiency.
• Solve complex technical bottlenecks and implement key framework components and core server logic.
• Build internal tools that improve development and iteration efficiency.
• Write and maintain technical documentation to support long-term team productivity.
