Job summary

Citi in Singapore is seeking a Java Developer to join our technology team. You will design, implement, and maintain Java applications, using J2EE, Spring, and microservices within a fast-paced, global banking environment.

You will collaborate with product owners and other tech teams, ensure code quality, security, and performance, and mentor junior analysts. Familiarity with Oracle databases, SQL, and DevOps tools like GitHub and Jenkins is valued.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in applications development using Java/J2EE technologies
• Experience with Spring and Microservices architectures
• Familiar with Oracle databases, SQL, and UNIX platforms
• Knowledge of HTML/CSS, JSP, Servlets and JMS/Kafka is a plus
• Exposure to DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Lightspeed, Harness

Responsibilities

• Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts to identify and define system enhancements, including scripting and code analysis.
• Consult with users, clients, and other tech groups to propose programming solutions, install and support systems.
• Apply fundamental programming knowledge for design specifications.
• Analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities, perform testing and debugging.
• Serve as advisor or coach to junior analysts.

In this role, you’re expected to:

• Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts, and basic knowledge of other technical areas to identify and define necessary system enhancements, including using script tools and analyzing/interpreting code.
• Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues, and recommend programming solutions, install, and support customer exposure systems
• Apply fundamental knowledge of programming languages for design specifications.
• Analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues, as well as conduct testing and debugging
• Serve as advisor or coach to new or junior level analysts

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

• 3+ years of experience in application of Java, J2EE, HTML/CSS, JSP, Servlets, JDBC, Struts framework, Spring and Micro service
• Experience with Angular is a plus
• Thorough understanding of usage of the fundamental concepts like Exception Handling, Static block/variables/classes, OOPS concepts, Collections, Multi-Threading, http sessions, session handling, Servlets/JSP life cycle, JDBC, actions, events, implicit objects, custom tags, context
• Exposure to an industry-standard database (Oracle) on a UNIX platform with awareness of database design and SQL scripting knowledge and performance tuning
• Awareness of unit testing frameworks like JUnit or TestNG
• Awareness of application servers /webservers
• Work experience on the transactional applications for low latency, high availability uses is a plus
• Work experience in technologies like JMS / Kafka is a plus
• Exposure to DevOps tools like GitHub, Jenkins, Lightspeed, Harness, etc
