Job summary

Michael Page is assisting a leading hedge fund client in Singapore to recruit an experienced investment professional for a Japan-focused equity long/short portfolio. You will perform in-depth research, build detailed financial models, and present investment ideas to senior stakeholders in a fast-paced, meritocratic environment.

You will manage capital, monitor risk, and collaborate with the investment team to generate differentiated performance, with relocation support provided for Singapore

Qualifications

• Degree in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, engineering or related discipline.
• 6+ years buy-side investment experience within hedge funds, asset managers, family offices, or alternative investment firms.
• Demonstrated experience investing in Japanese listed equities.
• Strong track record of generating investment ideas that contribute meaningfully to portfolio performance.
• Exceptional fundamental research, financial modelling, and valuation skills.
• Deep understanding of equity markets, corporate analysis, and investment processes.
• Ability to make independent investment decisions while collaborating effectively within a broader investment team.
• Strong portfolio construction, risk management and analytical capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a Japan-focused equity long/short portfolio.
• Perform in-depth company, industry, and thematic research to uncover high-conviction investment ideas.
• Develop detailed financial models, valuation analyses, and investment frameworks to support portfolio decisions.
• Source and evaluate both long and short opportunities with clearly defined investment theses and catalysts.
• Monitor portfolio exposures, risk factors, and performance drivers while maintaining disciplined portfolio construction.
• Engage with company management teams, industry participants, and market experts to enhance investment insights.
• Present investment recommendations, portfolio updates, and market views to senior investment stakeholders.
