Job description

The Lead Domain Architect, Cloud, Infrastructure & Platform Architecture, is a senior role within Group IT Architecture responsible for establishing and evolving Great Eastern’s enterprise cloud, infrastructure, and platform architecture foundation across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other GE entities. The role will define target-state architecture, principles, standards, and guardrails for cloud platforms, hybrid infrastructure, private cloud, compute, storage, network, container platforms, infrastructure automation, observability, resilience, disaster recovery, backup, operational readiness, and platform engineering practices. This role will help modernise GE’s technology foundation by improving scalability, security, resilience, automation, cost effectiveness, and operational excellence across cloud and infrastructure services. It will also help address technology fragmentation, inconsistent platform patterns, infrastructure complexity, operational risks, and architectural debt across the enterprise technology landscape. Working closely with application teams, integration teams, data and AI teams, cloud and infrastructure engineering, operations, Security, Risk, Compliance, and delivery teams, the role will translate business, regulatory, security, operational, and technology needs into practical architecture direction and implementable solution patterns. The successful candidate is expected to provide architecture leadership and coaching to solution architects, engineers, platform teams, and operations teams, helping to uplift cloud, infrastructure, and platform architecture maturity across Group IT.

Cloud, Infrastructure & Platform Architecture
  • Define and evolve enterprise cloud, infrastructure, and platform architecture across Great Eastern entities, aligned with business strategy, enterprise architecture direction, regulatory expectations, and technology modernisation priorities.
  • Establish architecture principles, standards, guardrails, reference architectures, and reusable patterns for cloud, hybrid infrastructure, private cloud, compute, storage, network, container platforms, and platform engineering capabilities.
  • Define target-state architecture and transition roadmaps for modernising infrastructure platforms, improving scalability, resilience, automation, security, cost effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
  • Guide workload placement decisions across public cloud, private cloud, on-premise infrastructure, and hybrid environments based on business criticality, security, resilience, regulatory, performance, and cost considerations.
  • Identify and address structural architecture issues, including fragmented infrastructure patterns, inconsistent cloud usage, platform duplication, legacy constraints, operational risks, and architectural debt.
Cloud Governance, Landing Zone & Automation
  • Define architecture standards and guardrails for cloud landing zones, account/subscription structures, network segmentation, identity integration, access control, policy enforcement, logging, monitoring, backup, and security baseline requirements.
  • Establish infrastructure automation and infrastructure-as-code principles to improve consistency, repeatability, auditability, and speed of delivery.
  • Promote modern platform engineering practices that enable reusable, self-service, secure, and governed technology capabilities for application and delivery teams.
  • Define architecture patterns for container platforms, orchestration, workload isolation, service connectivity, deployment automation, and platform observability.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to improve platform standardisation, lifecycle management, environment consistency, and operational readiness.
Resilience, Observability & Operational Excellence
  • Define architecture standards for high availability, disaster recovery, backup and recovery, business continuity, service reliability, capacity, performance, and operational resilience.
  • Establish observability and monitoring architecture patterns covering infrastructure, cloud services, platforms, applications, integrations, and critical workloads.
  • Ensure architecture designs include appropriate operational controls, support models, recoverability, incident readiness, and production handover considerations.
  • Review critical workloads and platforms to ensure resilience, scalability, performance, and operational risks are understood and addressed.
  • Support continuous improvement of infrastructure reliability, service stability, automation maturity, and operational excellence across Group IT.
Security, Risk & Compliance-by-Design
  • Translate security, risk, regulatory, compliance, and operational requirements into practical architecture standards, platform controls, and solution design patterns.
  • Ensure cloud and infrastructure architectures incorporate security-by-design, resilience-by-design, privacy-by-design, and compliance-by-design principles.
  • Work closely with Security, Risk, Compliance, cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, and delivery teams to ensure platforms and workloads meet enterprise control requirements.
  • Define architecture guardrails for network security, identity and access, encryption, secrets management, logging, vulnerability management, backup, and recovery.
  • Identify architecture risks, control gaps, technology debt, and remediation actions across cloud, infrastructure, and platform initiatives.
Architecture Assurance & Delivery Guidance
  • Provide architecture assurance for major programmes and initiatives involving cloud, infrastructure, platform engineering, application modernisation, data platforms, AI platforms, integration, and digital delivery.
  • Review solution designs to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles, approved patterns, security standards, resilience requirements, and operational expectations.
  • Guide delivery teams in making practical architecture decisions that balance speed, cost, resilience, security, compliance, and long-term maintainability.
  • Serve as a key member of the Architecture Review Board for cloud, infrastructure, and platform architecture matters.
  • Develop architecture decision records, reference architectures, playbooks, and design patterns to improve consistency and reusability across delivery teams.
Leadership, Collaboration & Capability Building
  • Provide architecture leadership, coaching, and mentoring to solution architects, engineers, platform teams, operations teams, and delivery teams.
