Job summary

Network For Electronic Transfers (S) is seeking an IT Infrastructure Principal Engineer in Singapore to lead the operations and reliability of on-premises infrastructure, including servers, storage, networks, and data centers.

You will drive incident response, capacity planning, security controls, and cross-team collaboration with application and security groups, ensuring performance, availability, and regulatory compliance for critical services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.
• At least 10 years of IT Infrastructure experience with hands-on hardware, networking, storage, and data centers.
• Experience managing on-premises infrastructure and security controls.

Responsibilities

• Oversee installation, configuration, patching, and maintenance of hardware and system software for on-premises environments.
• Ensure high availability, performance, and security of all infrastructure systems supporting business operations.
• Manage physical data centers, server rooms, racks, cabling, and environmental equipment.
• Lead infrastructure troubleshooting and incident resolution, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid response.
• Coordinate infrastructure upgrades, hardware refreshes, and capacity planning.
• Implement and enforce security controls for on-premises systems in alignment with organizational policies.
• Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, inventory, and asset tracking.
• Collaborate with application, security teams for seamless IT operations.
• Provide technical guidance (Windows, Linux, Storage, Network), mentoring, and leadership to infrastructure support teams.

BCS is NETS' wholly owned subsidiary, and is an entity within the NETS Group. It manages and operates clearing and payment infrastructure for the Singapore Automated Clearing House, including Fast And Secure Transfers (FAST), Inter-bank GIRO (IBG), Cheque Truncation System (CTS), and provides services for PayNow and SGQR Central Repository.

The Technology Division at BCS is responsible for the operations, maintenance, and support of BCS applications such as FAST, Giro, CTS, PayNow, SGQR, TFR, eGIRO and its critical infrastructure, ensuring its operational stability, regulatory compliance, and service reliability.

The IT Infrastructure Department under Technology ensures the resilience, security, and high-performance of BCS' technology infrastructure across various functions of service monitoring, incident management, and technical support. The team ensures seamless operation, maintenance, and strategic growth of core infrastructure components, including networks, servers, storage, middleware, and databases.

The IT Infrastructure Principal Engineer will oversee and manage the organisation's physical IT infrastructure, including new infrastructure projects and ongoing upgrades. The role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, performance, and efficiency of servers, storage, networks, data centers, and other critical on-premises infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise and leadership capabilities, ensuring that infrastructure solutions meet business requirements for performance, security, availability, and scalability.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of IT Infrastructure experience with hands-on experience in the following areas:
  • Physical server hardware (rack and blade servers)
  • Network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls
  • SAN and NAS storage technologies
  • Virtualization technologies, including VMware and Hyper-V
  • Enterprise backup and recovery solutions, including NetWorker and Veeam
  • Data center operations, structured cabling standards, and environmental monitoring

Skills and Knowledge

• Solid expertise in IT security principles and best practices for on-premises infrastructure environments.
• Strong understanding of ITIL processes, including Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical capabilities, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks and projects effectively.
