Job summary

Banking Computer Services Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of NETS, seeks a Cloud Operations Engineer to manage BCS cloud services. You will ensure uptime, reliability, and regulatory compliance for cloud platforms like AWS, while driving automation and CI/CD improvements in collaboration with development teams.

You will implement scalable, secure cloud architectures, develop design patterns, and lead major incident responses, contributing to the bank’s digital payments infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years IT operations experience, with 3+ years in AWS or similar cloud operations (Azure, GCP).
• Experience designing/developing platform components or monitoring tools in AWS or other cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Apply expert-level knowledge of cloud-native services (compute, storage, networking, databases, containers, serverless, security).
• Own and evolve operational frameworks: incident response, monitoring, patching, backup, DR and compliance.
• Lead major incident management and RCA for critical cloud events.
• Develop deployable cloud design patterns for deploying services to the cloud.
• Lead cloud security operations in collaboration with security teams.
• Drive automation-first operations via IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Define optimal design patterns for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Conduct technical deep dives, operational reviews, and postmortems.
• Partner with Cloud CoE, security and application teams to align operations with cloud strategy.

It manages and operates clearing and payment infrastructure for the Singapore Automated Clearing House, including Fast And Secure Transfers (FAST), Inter-bank GIRO (IBG), Cheque Truncation System (CTS), and provides services for PayNow and SGQR Central Repository.

Team and Position Summary

The Technology Division at BCS is responsible for the operations, maintenance, and support of BCS applications such as FAST, Giro, CTS, PayNow, SGQR, TFR, eGIRO and its critical infrastructure, ensuring its operational stability, regulatory compliance, and service reliability.

The Cloud Center of Excellence (COE) team at BCS delivers a robust, scalable, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure aligned with BCS’s strategic objectives. The team brings expertise in cloud management, with a focus on optimising performance, security, and compliance.

The Cloud Operations Engineer will provide technical support to BCS services running on Cloud. The incumbent will be responsible for the uptime and readiness of the components that are operating on the cloud and will look at automation initiatives to reduce mundane IT operations and administrative work to improve efficiency and consistency. The ideal candidate will also work closely with developers and application team to streamline the deployment process, automation, enhance CI/CD pipelines and maintain security compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply expert-level knowledge of cloud-native services (compute, storage, networking, databases, containers, serverless and security)
• Own and evolve operational frameworks including incident response, monitoring, patching, backup, disaster recovery and compliance
• Lead major incident management and root cause analysis (RCA) for critical cloud events
• Develop a library of deployable and documented cloud design patterns, based on the organisation application portfolio, as a basis for deploying services to the cloud
• Demonstrate leadership ability to back decisions with research and the “why” and articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, and a recommendation.
• Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends and technology.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security and regulatory frameworks (MAS TRM)
• Proven hands-on experience in designing, deploying in AWS cloud.
• Lead cloud security operations in collaboration with security teams.
• Drive automation-first operations through Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Define optimal design patterns and solutions for high availability and disaster recovery for applications.
• Conduct technical deep dives, operational reviews and incident postmortems
• Partner with Cloud CoE, security and application teams to align operations with cloud strategy
• Oversee patch management, vulnerability remediation, IAM governance and policy enforcement
• Implement self-healing systems, auto-scaling and event-driven operations

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT operations, with at least 3+ years in AWS or similar cloud operations (Azure, GCP), preferably within the payment or financial services industry
• Possess practical expertise in AWS service such as experience in designing and developing platform components or monitoring tools in AWS or any of the cloud computing platforms

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of AWS architecture and design, professional level certification is mandatory
• Cloud Expert with proven contributions in Amazon AWS
• Proven experience leading incident management, DR, backup/recovery and performance operations at scale
• Ability to carry out industry trends and competitor product/solution analysis effectively
• Good expertise in programming- able to develop and demonstrate technologies in PoC
• Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends
• Experience in configuring and tuning cloud-hosted solutions and platforms
• Good knowledge of DevSecOps tool chains and processes
• Strong communication skills and able to articulate complicated cloud reports to management team and other stakeholders
• Hands-on proficiency in IaC and automation tools

Professional Certifications

• AWS Certification – Solution Architect Associate or SysOps Administrator Associate.
• AWS Certification – Solution Architect Professional and Advanced Networking Specialty is an added advantage
