Job summary

PASSONA SINGAPORE PTE. LTD. is seeking an IoT Engineer to develop and maintain IoT and edge computing solutions that connect manufacturing equipment, sensors, and devices to downstream data systems.

You will work with ESP32, Raspberry Pi, sensors, and protocols like MQTT, TCP/IP, and RS232/RS422 using Python for integration, data processing and automation. Qualifications

• 2+ years of IoT/embedded experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
• Hands-on with microcontrollers, SBCs and sensors.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop IoT systems, including hardware selection, software integration and scalability.
• Implement and optimize microcontrollers, sensors, and edge devices for reliable connectivity.
• Develop data pipelines for collection, processing, and secure transmission between IoT devices and systems.
• Improve, manage and troubleshoot existing IoT systems for performance and uptime.
• Test and validate IoT systems and components for functionality and performance.
• Collaborate with software and maintenance teams across disciplines.
• Translate user requirements into practical, scalable IoT solutions.
• Take on additional tasks as required by the supervisor.

Job Description:

As an IoT Engineer, you will develop and maintain IoT and edge computing solutions that connect manufacturing equipment, sensors, and devices to downstream data systems. You will work hands‑on with microcontrollers such as ESP32, edge computing platforms such as Raspberry Pi, sensors, and communication protocols including RS232/RS422, TCP/IP, and MQTT, with Python used for device integration, data processing, and automation.

You will be responsible for deploying, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining reliable connected systems in a manufacturing cleanroom environment. Working closely with production, maintenance, and software teams, you will help translate equipment and operational requirements into practical IoT solutions that improve equipment visibility, data collection, and process efficiency.

Job Duties:

• 1) Design and develop IoT systems, including hardware selection, software integration and scalability
• 2) Implement and optimize microcontrollers, sensors, and edge devices to ensure seamless hardware-software connectivity
• 3) Develop pipelines for data collection, processing, and secure transmission between IoT devices, machines and systems
• 4) Improve, manage and troubleshoot existing IoT systems to ensure performance, reliability, and uptime
• 5) Conduct testing and validation of IoT systems and components to ensure functionality and performance
• 6) Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including software developers and maintenance engineers
• 7) Gather and analyze user requirements, translating them into practical, scalable IoT solutions
• 8) Take on additional tasks or responsibilities as required by the supervisor, demonstrating flexibility in dynamic work environments

Job Requirements:

• At least 2 years of relevant experience in IoT, embedded systems, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science

Skills Required (Must Have)

• 1) Proficient in Python programming
• 2) Experience in using Single-Board Computers (Raspberry Pi)
• 3) Hands‑on experience with some IoT and device communication technologies (e.g. MQTT, HTTP, RS232/RS422, TCP/IP etc.)
• 4) Hands‑on experience withmicrocontrollersormicroprocessors(e.g. Arduino/ ESP32 etc.)
• 5) Hands‑on experience in electronics prototyping, including wiring, circuit connections, testing, and troubleshooting
• 6) Basic proficiency in Linux environments
• 7) Basic knowledge in Analog & Digital Electronics
• 8) Ability to read and interpret hardware/component datasheets

Skills Required (Good to Have)

• 1) Basic understanding of databases and SQL (e.g. Postgres/ Oracle etc.)
• 2) Basic C/C++ programming
• 3) Ability to independently research and apply new technology
• 4) Use of 3D printer for prototyping
